5:30 I think by 4 billion years, even if photosynthesis stops, we'll be able to figure out something if we're still alive at that point, like seriously, we're already able to grow plants without the sun, and by that time we'll most likely be able to travel to other stars at that point

figuring out or not, tbe universe will still end.

Black Holes are actually way more practical than stars for colonization. Definetly not easier, but when you're already determined to save stars you might as well consider it. Theres a hypothetical, but theoretically not impossible (given that black holes rotate) method of transforming the rotational energy of black holes into matter: Rotating black holes possess what is called an ergosphere, a region of spactime that forms a rough torus arounf the equator where spactime is basically dragged along with the rotating event horizon (of course the event horizon does not actually rotate itself but its easier to just say it this way). Now, step one is to shoot a laser into the ergosphere, lets say 1 watt. The laser will then bend around the black hole through the ergosphere and is dragged along. This lets the laser gain momentum. Since photons cant exceed the speed of light they instead increase in frequency. Then you catch the laser when it is thrown back around the hole to your location (or the location of a receiver station, depends on the angle the laser was shot). Since the laser has gained momentum (measured through frequency/wavelength) it is now worth two watt (for example, the closer the laser arcs to the horizon the more momentum is gained). You take one joule and shoot another laser and keep one joule to power a different laser: Step two is to fire a laser into an accelerator with enough power that the photons merge upon collision into elementary particles, then collide those into heavier particles until you got matter. The higher the photons momentum/wavelength is, the more matter you gain out of it, so a goof idea would be to fire terawatt lasers instead and have it arc very close to the event horizon so that you may gain a thousandfold increase in output. Also consider wrapping the entire hole in a dyson sphere so that energy loss is practically zero, except when something attracted by the hole collides with the membrane/shell, and that you can shoot a vast array of lasers all the time. You could also use the ergosphere as a particle accelerator itself, but you'd have to catch the heavier particles when they collide

The way to feel good about this is to redefine "we" as "anybody." If anybody exists, then we exist.

As much as I would like to think that the big crunch would happen, I think endless nothing sounds more probable. There is so much we don't know, we can't even comprehend it. I love it. So facinating.

I'd like to imagine that the expansion of the universe is some weird reversed falling of all matter towards each other to a point we can't see.

Yea that’s a nice thought cuz that would mean that we would exist for infinite cuz everything that could happen will happen a infinite amount of times

I think doctor who did an episode where they were on a planet at the end of time, where there was only the faintest light left and life was huddled underground waiting for the last lights in the sky to go out.
