This creature was made for Roll for Combat, and corresponds to a Werecrocodile Kineticist, able to manipulate water at will. This work was really fun to do it!
Hope you like it! =) And if you like my work I would greatly appreciate it if you give a like and subscribe!

hey ! If it could help when you work, you can put your sketch layer into a other color , just click on the little square blue and white (you can choose the color) it on the top of your layers, under opacity option, like that you can see easily your progress without hide rought layer (just put the rought sketch in blue, and do your line in black, this technique saved me to the famous "draw on the wrong layer" ahah)
@feig1990

The truth is that I'm quite messy with layers, I admit it hahaha . It may all look neat in the process, but when it comes to arranging layers, the truth is that I'm pretty lazy 😅

AMAZING ... AMAZING . This video made me think, it's not the program that makes the art good, it's the artist, I don't use clip studio, but I could definitely see in this video that the artist made it incredible and not the software. congratulations

The Flipped Window thing is a great aid trick I use as well. I only wish that you could make the alternate window Greyscale while keeping the main one in Color so you can check for values at all times. This is possible in Photoshop but not in CSP to my knowledge.
@feig1990
@feig1990 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, they are very helpful. But you're right, unfortunately Clip Studio still doesn't add the Grayscale display option, and it's something I hope they include soon, because it's very useful. But at least for me, the pros are still much more than the cons regarding other programs like Photoshop. Clip suits me a lot for my work process, despite those details that it doesn't have yet.

I am very glad that I came across such videos. Great pipeline. But I think you should use the lasso more often to emphasize the lines - the lines of your metal are soft, like the lines of bread - they don't ring, it makes the work poorer

Thank you! And yes, I have been trying to use more the lasso for a long time, but I still can't get used to it. There are many things that I still need to learn, to feel more confident in what I do, and one of them is the lasso

Beautiful artwork! May I ask, what is the point of making such detailed linework, when in the end you paint over it? I am fairly new to art still, so I am trying to figure out the processes behind it.
@feig1990
@feig1990 4 ай бұрын
Thanks! And that's a good question 😂even I ask myself sometimes hahaha. If I think about it, I think there is no practical reason to do it. In fact, that is precisely why this piece took me several hours longer than usual. At times I think it's wasted time, but I think it goes beyond that. I'm still discovering my style and my most comfortable workflow, and within that search, there are certain times when with some illustrations, especially like this one that was made for a client, I don't feel 100% sure of what I will do, and I think that making the Lineart more detailed helps me better to visualize in my head what I'll have to paint later. So yes, I think that in a way, making the drawing more detailed on certain occasions serves as a support point to feel more confident in the next step, so as not to get stuck in the process.
@HoricHraje
@HoricHraje 4 ай бұрын
@@feig1990 Gotcha! It actually kinda makes sense, that making all more clear to yourself results in easier workflow in later part of the process, rather than if started working from messier linework. @feig1990

@@HoricHraje Many times it has happened to me that I tried to speed up the process, spending less time on the drawing, but then I got stuck in the final rendering and it took me longer, and I suffer more headaches trying to solve it hahaha, that's why I prefer to make sure. And yes, I hope in the future to be able add comments to the videos. Right now, it's a little difficult for me since it takes a lot more time to do it, and for now I don't have that time, but I hope that as the channel grows, I'll be able to do that 😁

what made you decide to redo the scales? amazing stuff btw!
@feig1990
@feig1990 4 ай бұрын
I couldn't say exactly. In an answer I gave to another person, I commented on the fact that I often detailed the drawing more than necessary, as in this case, to feel more confident about the next steps I will take in the illustration, even when I later erase the lines. and redo it. I don't think I have a concrete answer, but I guess it's simple insecurity at certain times. In this case it took me many more hours than normal, and I suppose a large part of that is precisely because of this issue.
@_yoiro
@_yoiro 4 ай бұрын
@@feig1990 thanks for the reply! I saw that comment too and understand the point about detailed linework. But i was mostly referring to when you painted over the scales at 8:27 when (in my opinion) they already looked really good. were you feeling unsatisfied with it and wanted to do the texture again?
@feig1990
@feig1990 4 ай бұрын
@@_yoiro Oh I understand. More than being unhappy with the texture, I felt like I was losing volume in the body by focusing so much on the scales from the beginning, it was becoming very flat, and that's something I'm always struggling with hahahaha. After so many years, even today many times because I want to rush, or do things differently than I always do them, I end up at a point where I realize that it is better to return in the process and take another direction. I always try to mentalize to "start from the general and end in the detail", and in this case it was not like that, I wanted to start with the detail making the scales, and I had lost sight of the base, which was the volume and the basic shapes of the body

@@feig1990 ahh i see, i was thinking the end result was more cohesive too. and yes ive heard that mentality as well, i try to start my paintings zoomed out and gradually zoom in so as to not fuss over the details at the start. thanks so much for the detailed reply! your explanation is great haha

Thank you! =) Unfortunately, I was looking for a while for where I downloaded that brush, but I couldn't find it in Clip Studio's resource bank, so it must have been a brush imported from Photoshop. From there it is almost impossible for me to know where it came from, because there are years and years of brushes involved hahahaha. But anyway, the brush has nothing special, it is practically the same as the default brush, with high hardness and only variation in opacity under pressure, nothing more.

hahaha thank you so much! This work took me around 24-25 hours, but on this one in particular, it took me a lot longer than usual. Normally it takes me between 12-15 hours.

Thank You so much! 😁 I have downloaded most of the brushes I use from the clip studio free resource bank. I sometimes make some modifications to those same ones in the opacity, pressure, color density, etc., so that they fit my hand as best as possible.

Can you show the references next time? Im curious how you use them
@feig1990
@feig1990 4 ай бұрын
It is a good idea. I didn't want to do it since I take up a extra screen for the references hahaha, it would take up half the video for that xD but maybe I could show the reference board at the beginning or end of the video. It's an idea that I'm going to analyze for future videos I make. Thank you! =)
