Thanks for sharing. # 1 restaurant in America.. I have been there since 1979. Still love today. Whenever in NYC I go there straight from the airport.💯👍🙏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I love seeing your reviews, since I love Cantonese cooking. I heard the owner of Big Wong sold the place and opened up Ming Wong down the block.

Went there as a kid also. All the old waiters always wore the red vests.

Its always fun to try the restaurants that were started by disgruntled staff . I.e. New Big wang, shun wong , new big wong etc... any of the places with Wong in the name and the same type of food.

Big Wong is not the same as the good old days Big Wong.

Have a Happy Father's day, Arthur. Another great review. Big Wong, a Chinatown institution. Great commentary, food shots, sharing of menu, and have the menu item on the screen is a nice touch. Better than having to scroll back in case you need the menu item repeated. I'm surprise more people are not catching onto you faster.

Great review! I'm not sure which restaurant has the best name: Big Wong or A Dong.

Thanks, I recall a radio morning show comedy skit was based on this restaurant's name years ago.

I like the sweet and sour pork chop over egg fried rice.

Love that stuff. In my opinion those roast meats are better than American barbecue……Also if you buy that type of brisket in a Chinese supermarket, you can make something similar at home by simmering it for 3 hours and letting it rest off the heat for 2 hours to create that similar texture

Making at home is most definitely a possibility, but for brisket in particular, it's more time consuming. I find it easier and faster to make cha siu at home. And I would never attempt to make a roast duck!😅

Most definitely a dearth of parking in the area.

That’s interesting. I remember in the 90s I could find free parking in Chinatown……But to put it perspective at least be glad Manhattan Chinatown has not evolved into a ghost town. I did a tour of the Midwest and the South and many cities like St. Louis, Memphis etc are now basically ghost towns. It’s sad to see cities to have become abandoned for the suburbs so in that regard it’s good to see New York Chinatown very busy even if it’s annoying

@@ramencurry6672 it is ghost town enough. good thing congestion pricing is postponed after the election. Manhattan chinatown got one more year.

@@ramencurry6672 remember NYC got at least 7 other “chinatown” in the boroughs + korean town… less and less people going to Manhattan for cheap noodles anymore. and don’t forgot Wong Island also sprinkle with tons of fusion asian restaurants and fake sushi restaurants

@@ometofu the outer boroughs are great but kind of a pain in the arse to get too if you’re a tourist or work in Manhattan. Manhattans Chinatown is still very crowded since the population of NYC has increased in the past 30 years which in my opinion is a good thing because the outer boroughs have become more vibrant and fun in comparison to the 80s

The roast meat, wonton, noodles etc might have the same qualities but the kitchen stuff definitely not as good as they used to be.
