I think this might be my favourite Queen song and performance. Written by Brian May (lead guitar) about a girl he used to like at college, I just love the wild romanticism of it, with its Arthurian/ medieval vibes of knights and ladies, queens and paupers, willow trees and mysterious footsteps... Freddie here is still like I remember him from when I used to see him around London in the late 60s/early 70s, before he was famous. Still struggling in life like any other ordinary person, working at some fairly mundane jobs, to me, he already had that charisma, a kind of radiance, like a beautiful white unicorn you catch a glimpse of between the trees while walking through the forest. I saw all four band members out and about, and they all stood out, but Freddie was something else... I never followed Queen or rock music particularly so it was only many decades later when I discovered who 'that guy' I had a crush on was! Another wonderful, short and relatively low key but super intense song/ performance is You Take My Breath Away - Live in Hyde Park, 1976. Just Freddie alone at the piano in the green twilight, shushing a rowdy crowd with one wave of a slender finger...

I loved your reaction to great this performance……. I once saw someone comment that during the instrumental part of this song …. it was like the piano and guitar were talking to each other…. It was simply beautiful and perfection. Their is no comparison to this and todays music. Most all Queen songs are better done live than the studio version. Now you must react to “Liar” and “Cold Stone Crazy” both live @ Rainbow 1974 ….then “You Take My Breath Away” live at Hyde Park 1976. Thank you for your Queen reactions ….. please continue, because there is so much more. 💕

Such a good song! I love seeing young people like yourself appreciate Freddie/Queen and realize just how magnificent they were together.

This performance blows my mind everytime I see it. Oh, to have been in that audience!! The instrumental portion of this song is so good it is nearly impossible to believe that it is live. Brian's guitar work gives me chills and takes me on a rollercoaster ride. Freddie's vocals and piano work are outstanding. Roger and John offer the perfect amount of accompaniment, very much there but not overshadowing Fred or Brian. Sony just bought the entire Queen catalog so that might be why all of a sudden some Queen videos are being blocked. I am not sure about that but Queen Official never used to block. Brian wrote this song but Freddie delivers it as if it was his own. That is the mark of a great singer and an asset to the band.

The band created beautiful harmonies in the studios, but their live performances were on another level, Freddie put the cherry onto the top of the cake.

Thanks, Dreez.. one of my all-time favorites.. written by Brian May, BTW, but the interplay b/w Freddie's keys & Brian's guitar is incredible... and also Roger's drums & John's bass... what an amazing LIVE performance... appreciate your reaction to this! of course, the tact that this is now over FIFTY years old... right?

You got that right! Queen is so special.... I saw them three times and each time I was in awe, they were such a great live band. I have gone through different looks of Freddie but still the same great music. Thanks for the reactions, much appreciated!

Thank you for this great reaction. White Queen live...the greatest piece of instrumental interlude ever. Wish the camera had panned to the other band members during that magical moment. No one can yet top Queen the Greatest 👑👑👑👑

Everything you’re saying is great to see you express, because you’re seeing and realizing how great they were, and Freddie, God Rest His Soul, he was so special. And so were Queen, all of them. So unique, such talented in each their own way, put together with Freddie’s charisma, they were shooting stars. Sigh, so sad miss them, and especially Freddie. Gone too soon.

Great reaction to a great performance! This song was written by Brian the guitarist about a girl in his Biology class in college. He had a crush on her but was too shy to talk to her. When he got the nerve to do it she was already dating someone else. It ends as it began….

Freddie Mercury loved opera music and performed a song called “Barcelona” with an opera diva named Montserrat Caballé at the closing ceremony of the Olympics. Not quite sure of all the details…but Wow…what a performance…worthy of your review! Freddie put a spin to the opera sound! May they both rest in peace❣️

Getting blocked to Queens Music is unusual it's not Queen that's a problem it's KZbin. Check out Wembley 1986 concert starting with One Vision❤

I like how you're appreciating the combined use of instruments. This song/performance in particular I feel the piano leads and Brian's guitar extends the piano keys with his electric flare enriching the sound. Usually the guitar leads the other instruments. Freddie goes transcendent during his playing visually looking as if he's Mozart in a pianist concert hall. and 2 or 3 times he empties his lungs completely singing ... watch again and see him push through his reserve tank so to speak. four suggestions of live performances: 1) Dragon Attack live at Montreal 1981 2) Somebody to Love 1981 (same concert) 3) You Take My Breath Away live at Hyde Park 1976 4) Who Wants to Live Forever live 1986 Wembley bit specifically Friday night July 11th. they did it 2 nights in a row but the 1st night is more powerful amd passionate. hell... maybe compare both performances in one reaction that might be interesting.
