@@asoncalledvoonch2210You are aware that the “Xmas” abbreviation dates back to the 1500’s and originated because the Greek letter Chi is the first letter in the word Χριστός (Christós) which when translated into English, becomes “Christ”….right? It’s still commonly seen in other places within Christianity, notably the “Chi-Rho” symbol ☧, the first two letters in Χριστος, again, Greek for “Christ”. “Xmas” isn’t the only use of “X” in place of a “chri” or “cry” start to a word either. “Xtal” is a common scientific abbreviation for “crystal” and “Xant” is used as an abbreviation for “chrysanthemum” in botany. So if “Xmas” is being used as simply an honest abbreviation, it’s not offensive. And even if the user’s intent is to secularize Christmas….the irony is, they still aren’t.

I'm only two hours into this video and it makes me think. What would the mid and late 90s have been like if WCW had competent management through these years. Would we have gotten the Monday Night Wars? Would we have gotten Stone Cold and the Rock? Would there have been the NWO? Would there have been solid competition for years to come?
@ReflectionOfPerfection
@ReflectionOfPerfection 10 ай бұрын
By February of 1990 they were getting close to WWF ratings if not neck and neck. Had Flair, Kevin, Jim and talent like Sting, The Midnights and Luger went to Jack Pietrich and said "get Herd the hell out of here" and Jack listened, they might have had a chance. I hate to say it but a guy like Eric Bischoff who, love him or hate him, brought in the cruiserweights, jump started the nWo and (like Kip Frye) didn't penny pinch like Herd, Ole & Watts, might have taken WCW in 1991 beyond where WWF was when their ratings started to dip after the 80s hangover kicked in.

I’ve seen Starrcade 1990 reviewed by the wrestling channel Wrestle Me on KZbin (Wrestle Me is my favourite wrestling channel) and I recommend watching it as the card is so bad it’s funny and the Wrestle Me guys doing their commentary are brilliant as they’re so funny as their English got a great sense of humour and do it better than any American wrestling KZbinr. Don’t get me wrong there are some good American KZbinrs who have their funny moments but when it comes to comedy Americans just aren’t very funny like the Germans and I’ve heard Germans try to be funny (I mean in German comedy clubs not American comedy clubs speaking English), it’s just the English are the best at comedy, actually all British are very funny and more so than Americans it’s just the English are still the funniest out of the British. I remember seeing Starrcade 90 as WCW was on German satellite tv back in the day (thought the PPVs we didn’t have to pay for we got them for free just like the WWF PPVs but WWF was on the English channels only and in English but then again so was WCW 😂)

He'd like you to think that, it's a lot more boring I reckon as Cornie can spin a yarn so big it'd be a damn State Fair exhibition without any prompt or effort. I do think a definitive wrestling television, maybe in the vein of Mad Men, that focuses on historical elements as well as character drama would be better.

Back in the days of Kabuki and Muta, the mist was cool. nowadays, it’s just stupid. I just don’t understand why the WWE thinks every japanese superstar sprays mists. At least Asuka stopped doing that stuff thank goodness.

Yeah but AEW did it worse than WCW. Reason for it is cause Adam Cole revealed himself as the "Devil" when in reality it would have made more sense if it was MJF. Adam Cole being the Devil had no logic, thought, or purpose behind it.

I think almost everyone in the business could do the Dusty talk.

The road warrior's stabbing Dusty Rhodes in the eye with a spike was insane. The crowd turned savage and were visibly shaken and angry. Ppl love Dusty Rhodes. Great angle.

6:23:10 Just Googled Vanessa Del Rio who retired from porn in 1986 (I was 5 at the time) due to the AIDS scare and is currently 71yrs old. So yes Jim you have dated yourself as you could’ve at least said Jenna Jameson who I just saw was married to Brad Armstrong and I was like “Brad Armstrong the wrestler as in Road Dogg’s brother!?” No Brad Armstrong who was another porn star (sorry I thought there was only one ‘famous’ Brad Armstrong, but I don’t watch porn as I see sex as like cricket 🏏 can’t stand to watch it but love doing it)
