Native American Literature was my final course in college. That opened my mind to many perceptions, and all we need to do is stop & think. Then the Observe & Report task gains much clarity. The Native American mindset is making its way back to mainstream; we've got the answers within us already.

The human story is far more complicated than this simplistic view point. Enigmas can be found in the Pracacas, the amazon, Honduras, and across North America (mostly east of the Mississippi). Even the very old stories suggesting these lands have had many kinds of beings living there beside the native Americans way before Columbus arrived. But everything needs to "political correct" and placed in neat little boxes.

Thank you for the education, it is always interesting 🧐 to me to learn more about Native American cultures. I find the Aztecs to be the most interesting of the Mesoamerican tribes. Cahokia is also very interesting and fascinating that it was a place for trade that connected all of the tribes in North America in one place. What did the Aztecs believe about the human energy being released in blood 🩸 through human sacrifice??

If they don't pose it as a system then it doesn't make any sense . It's just millions of disparate people living in different groups at different levels of social development throughout the Western hemisphere . Then they need to try and explain why that is.
@danhanqvist4237
@danhanqvist4237 2 жыл бұрын
@@bfairfax8772 What doesn't make sense is to assume that all those millions had one system. It's like asking about the "European system of government". Europe has seen a large number of systems throughout history and still differ pretty widely among themselves (compare, say, Russia and Hungary, with Norway and Ireland). My suspicion is that whoever came up with the question in that form assumed that "Native Americans" were all the same (very likely along the lines of the stereotypical Plains tribes) and lived in a world without history.

"Societies exist under three forms sufficiently distinguishable.1. without government, as among our Indians. 2. under governments wherein the will of every one has a just influence, as is the case in England in a slight degree, and in our states in a great one. 3. under governments of force: as is the case in all other monarchies & in most of the other republics." - From Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, Paris Jan. 30. 1787. "I am convinced that those societies (as the Indians) which live without government enjoy in their general mass an infinitely greater degree of happiness than those who live under European governments. Among the former, public opinion is in the place of law, and restrains morals as powerfully as laws ever did any where. Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. I do not exaggerate. This is a true picture of Europe. Cherish therefore the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention." - From Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington, Paris 16 Jan. 1787

The Iroquois show an add on (through breeding) of Basque DNA in a number of their people's. The Basque are largely the lineage of the Irish, in post-flood time, and the Basque are overwhelmingly the largest group of Rh (-) blood type. Basque DNA in the Irish is most prevalently concentrated in Counties Kerry and Cork, Ireland, (the most Southwestern area, that class seat to the USA, so to speak.) and they s area has a 🆕 table % of Rh(-) blood type. My lineage is from County Kerry. Ireland, and I'm Rh(-). Either the Basque sailed to the USA in the pre-Columbian era, and/or Irish of Basque Lineage did. Based on these findings, it doesn't mean we are of same original origin, but we are relatives. The Cherokee are Iroquois that means bed South and in the area of Tennessee, N Carolina, northern Georgia, and Alabama, many of the People/Residents that have been in there s area for 3 - 4 or more generations are largely of German, Scott-Irish, Irish, and British lineage and of these folks,, at least 1 in 3 have a Cherokee relative (Grandparent, G-Grandparent, Brother-n-law or Sister-in-law. I actually had a Grandmother, my Dad's My m, that was half Cherokee and half Irish. My Mother was 100% Irish, my Dad over half Irish, and our DNA (my siblings and I) have this reflected in our DNA. Many have written about the Irish being the Daniels (one of the tribes of Israel) and there has been references made to Native Americans having been influenced by one or more of the Lost Tribes of Israel. I have one of my degrees in History and based on my indepth studies/research, I feel this is a real potential. It was said to have been checked and didn't appear to be found, however, one must understand the specific need to request the Ancient Test. There were 12 Tribes, a variance of origins, and of these, the folks from Judah, 2 main tribes and about 3 - 4 other tribes, would reflect the Semetic DNA, but the remaining would reflect Ancient DNA associated with Anatolia, Sardinia, Syria, the area of the Levant, or Ashkanazi, and unlikely but possibly the Lemba People's of Ethiopia, whom migrated to Ethiopia. Ashkanazi showed up in my DNA. There were 2 more tribes that reflected some Basque in their DNA, one is Navajo (that surprised me because of their location), the other I'm spacing at present, but I do recall it to be in the South Eastern USA. I found this all so interesting and it proves that there was far more seafaring in History than the Mainstream Academics are willing to admit, (but that's all together another story.) Best Regards

If you made camp in that chiefs camp, you played by his rules. He may kill you if you don't. You were also free to leave at anytime. Several eastern native group had councils of elders that included or were completely made up of females. Some groups females held great authority. Some none at all..central and South America had there own thing going on with much more a hierarchy of religious, political and wealthy class of people hold some type of powers. Before the Inca wiped out 66 civilizations we know of in about 150 years before the Spanish arrived, the mid Andes had many forms of government. Here is one from the first 2 minutes, they new about the stars..please name an ancient people that didn't? Remember this is about 2000 years after groups like the Greeks and Persians and many old world groups that had figured out a lot about the stars way before them.

Well the Toltec sites, a group from NE of Mexico city that held power over a lot of southern Mexico before the Azteca, had really cool art on everything too. As far as age... ..Guatemala is Maya and there classic age starts about 250 ad. Pre classic Maybe 400 years before that.. southern Mexico was a very late Commer to the civilization thing. Civilization in peru had been around about 3000 years or so before and there is some question if peruvian and or the cultures of Colombia didn't jump start it. Basically come in and in some way influence the native group with higher knowledge of pets say building and planting and such but not in numbers that it was a invasion. there is one group to the north west of Mexico city that shows at least that group, that held off the Azteca, had some things that really look Peruvian. Mummies in Egypt are older but both go way way back.. The 26 pyramids of coral outside of lima peru are the oldest in peru to date found and about 3 years older then the great pyramids of Giza. Many older, smaller pyramids can be found all over Egypt and tombs built into the earth before them at least 2000 years.. So what your saying is that prior to 1492 Native Americans were living like people in of the rest of the world 1500 or 2000 years before in Antiquity ? That Native Americans just never entered the Bronze Age like other parts of the world so they get stuck at a point of development prior to that age and consequently never move beyond either ? If that's not what your saying explain it more clearly . Sure what happened after 1492 wasn't right ,but wasn't it expected considering the vast disparity in modernization and both parties lack of medical knowledge ?
@danhanqvist4237
@danhanqvist4237 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think much of what happened was expected. The most important element was the spread of disease. That was certainly not intended -- the last thing the Spanish wanted was to have FEWER people to boss around. Given the very small number of Spaniards it is entirely conceivable that the outcome would have been very different if such enormous number of Native Americans hadn't died from disease. Also, the conquest of the Aztecs and Incas did not, actually, crucially depend on Spanish technology. Without Native American allies it's far from certain that either empire would have been conquered. Always keep in mind that "Native Americans" is a modern catch-all for very different societies with very different languages and historical trajectories. There wasn't one homogeneous Native American civilisation that met another homogeneous European civilisation. Even the Spaniards themselves were conflicted about how to deal with Native Americans. Especially the Spanish Crown worried about what the right thing to do was and tried to restrain the conquistadors and settlers. Both the Inca and Aztec nobility was absorbed into the Spanish nobility, not at all unlike what happened in respect of other Habsburg conquests and acquisitions.

Then 1500 years into after the first big leap in technology the Bronze age someone goes there having entered the early age of gunpowder . Also having come from societies that have domesticated animals for farming and consumption . As for the disease neither culture had enough of a grasp on medicine to realize there might be an issue . It's simply that the entire Western hemisphere was isolated from the technological growth of the rest of the world . If the hadn't been they very well may have sailed across the ocean and concurred Europe .

@@bfairfax8772 The reason for the devastating effect of the bacterial and viral transfer is of course that the Old World and the New World were isolated from each other an that the fauna and climate of the Old World let the populations there go through the pandemics that the people in the New World escaped. But I don't think the technological disparity was as great as is often made out -- it wasn't the stone-age meeting the space age -- and the Spaniards were very few. Other cultures at other times -- the Japanese, for instance, or the Native Americans in North America -- could adopt and adapt European technology to fight back -- and to fight each other. We mustn't forget the politics. There were not two separate sides. There were many different groups of Native Americans with their own agendas and many different groups of European settlers with agendas of their own, contending with and using metropolitan interest groups, differing amongst themselves as well. The "Clash of Civilisations" model is grossly simplified and don't allow for human affairs in general and, in particular, discounts Native American agency. I think people look at it too much from the perspective of post Civil-War US Western expansion and late 19th Century European colonialism and extrapolate backwards.

@@bfairfax8772 I've tried to make several points. The Spanish presence was not very large -- especially not in terms of fire-power. They largely fought with steel. By sheer numbers they could absolutely have been contained, and Native American could -- like the Japanese -- have picked up the technology. Without the pandemics it would have taken the Europeans a veeeery long time to defeat all Native American civilisations by fire power.
