Thank you Timemore once again for sponsoring the video. The Chestnut C3 PRO really is the best entry level grinder I've worked with. It's only $100USD or ~ 135CAD so it's a great grinder to use. If you ever want to pursue higher quality I'll eventually suggest a better one in the future. But in all honesty, this grinder is more or less good enough for almost all manual brews. There's no real "need" to get better. Hope you guys enjoyed the video I had a lot of fun with this! Maybe need to colour grade it better. The Sony a7iii has better colour without adjustments. But for this video I forgot to charge it so I shot it on my Fujifilm. Forgot to adjust the colour for video (my bad). Will have to add that to my to do list :P. Also the B-roll cut.. LMAO oops. HAHAHAHAHAHA love you guys, thanks for following my journey

@TALESCOFFEE
@TALESCOFFEE 11 ай бұрын
I have! It does kinda work, the espresso grind size I used for the flair is around 9-10 clicks. The issue is because the burrs are smaller there’s a very small gap to pull the beans in so it struggles to grip and grind the beans. It seems ok at 10 but at 9 it takes a lot longer not because it’s finer but it struggles to pull the beans in to grind.

The Timemore website says: “STEPLESS GRINDING ADJUSTMENT: Easily rotate the dial according to your preference from finer to coarser settings in almost half of the steps than C2 (Espresso settings begin around 8 clicks backward from the start point); you can use this hand grinder for everything from espresso to pour over and French press.”. They say “stepless grinding adjustment” and then talk about “clicks” in terms of adjustment? What’s going on here? They say expresso range starts at 8 clicks which means you are grinding pretty fine (Aeropress range) for your pour over at 10! That!s interesting as it would be similar to grind size I use following Hoffmann’s Aeropress recipe (not pour over). How many clicjks for a full rotation on the C3 pro?

I just got the C3 Max Pro, so far I love it but I'm a total noob when it comes to good coffee, I've seen other people do a 30-45 second bloom on their brew, is there a reason you don't? Again I'm learning so I'm just trying to figure this out. Thanks and great video!

What would your travel coffee set up look like for a 2 week trip where you know you will have access to fresh beans?
@TALESCOFFEE
@TALESCOFFEE Жыл бұрын
Oh!! If you have access to fresh beans, I take this a metal v60 (since they don't break at all) and then I just bring a stovetop kettle. The timemore is more compact, but the Hario Buono is my favourite one still! You can opt in for the aeropress since it packs smaller, but I feel it's about the same size as the v60

@TrasherBiner
@TrasherBiner Жыл бұрын
@@TALESCOFFEE your initial stream goes right into the middle creating an unnecessary channel of underextracted coffee making water that barely touched any amount of ground coffee, no stirring for starters as you are creating more chaos so even more water that barely touched coffee goes thropugh, you dont' swirl at all something that improves all flavour and notes of specialty coffee , and you skip the bloom fase. Your technique compared to James Hoffman's is poor and underextracted. I realise you used leftovers from other mixedstuff, but the amount of fines you got on the sides look like that coffe is going to be way more underextracted than it should be + you seem to value how little it took when the water basically just went through. I guess since you are from the states you are used to a more watered down coffee experience. You do you.
@TALESCOFFEE
@TALESCOFFEE Жыл бұрын
@@TrasherBiner Underextracted is when the brew has a low EY ... the method itself has a high EY so no that isn't correct. Stirring is better then swirling if that's even a question, but stirring is very big at the top of the brewing game. Swirling is horrible for the record, because your outside moves more then middle and you pull in a lot of micro fines from the edges. James Hoffman's method actually has a lower extraction. It's a different style but if you talk extraction I do have one of the highest extractions. I showed on some of my long form videos how I can even hit 23% .. it's not even that hard. I'm not in the states, but Hoffman definitely has a more "watered" down method he likes a 1:15/16 where I generally do 13's now. You should try perfecting it and understanding before using your little understanding of the method to judge.
@TrasherBiner
@TrasherBiner Жыл бұрын
@@TALESCOFFEE Nice speech. My understanding is good enough, but thanks. I still believe this is for audiences in the USA who are used to VERY WATERED DOWN underextracted rickety office percolator coffee. Such as yourself from the sounds of it. You do you , as well.

@TALESCOFFEE Жыл бұрын
@@TrasherBinerKeep your eyes open brother. When I show TDS of 2.5 and people still think it's watered down it's a joke. If you only believe in numbers you can see the proof on my channel. The idea of a bloom and the concept of it is to release gases, but your pressure and your pour technique matter more. Keep your eyes and ears open you might learn some more. I'm not always right but if you question the lack of extraction and you deny the science then you're just close minded.
