I think one of the reasons why this show is looked back on so fondly is because of the mature topics being discussed in an otherwise kid friendly story. For being a show about really weird and outlandish events, its shocking how real it can be at times

2:14 He says that like he doesn’t want to be managing the park for the rest of his life. But when Heir to the Throne made their debut, they got to see Benson drumming his heart out and he turned them down when they offered him his place in the band back, saying that managing this park is his idea of rocking on his roll. So, Benson, you have to answer 2 questions: 1. You ARE or you AIN’T happy as a park manager? B. You DO or you DON’T wanna be a drummer (again)?
@dontseemyprofilepic315727 күн бұрын
You have to remember that Heir To The Throne was kind of a dick to Benson though. They smashed up his drum kit and made every effort to stop him from playing that solo. Meanwhile, it was Mordecai and Rigby that met their heroes and threw away their free memberships after seeing the destroyed drum kits. I don’t think this question is about drums or the park. Benson chose the park because despite everything, he feels a lot more respected with his company at the park than at that band. We don’t know if Benson would turn them down in a world where they weren’t so antagonistic towards him.
@RTWLR27 күн бұрын
@@dontseemyprofilepic3157 I didn't forget the absolute magalodouches they were to Benson. I just remember on the brighter side of things when it was all over and they actually made an effort to make amends by encouraging him to come back. But you're right, their toxic routine is a logical explanation for why he turned them down. In any case, I'm just saying that this scene has some super conflicting emotions. He always says that being a park manager is his life's purpose, but here, it's like he wants it merely to be the opening act to the main event (that's a concert joke). If he truly wants to make something more of himself, why haven't we seen any evidence of him practicing his drumming in his off hours or preparing to audition for another band or anything?
@dontseemyprofilepic315727 күн бұрын
@@RTWLR that’s a good point, and one I have no rebuttal for. He does have basically the best possible resume any drummer could have, so applying to a new band would be easy. Though maybe his rant against his dad was more of a youthful one. Benson probably knows he could go back to drumming, but feels it’s just his duty to look after the park. He’s probably done it for so long now and has spent many years developing his uptight attitude as the boss of these people that it would feel wrong for him to ever fully leave it behind. It gives him a reliable routine all things considered. Even if the band were nice to him, Benson was still replaced by the drum machine at some point, so the whole drum career might feel a bit unsteady. On the other hand, Benson wasn’t ever really replaced at the park through the entire runtime at the show, and he’s still able to go bowling and eat at wing kingdom with his friends and teach English in China alongside his duty.

JC is a real one. Sure, adventure time was interesting and it got deeper the further the story went but it never gave an answer to any of the important questions it asked. They all seem to end in a "lol, lmao, you can do nothing about it, just cope". Especially visible with the fact that Simon never gets his life together, he's just supposed to cope in some way, even in the spin-off that is indirectly centered around his persona. Regular Show on the other hand at least gave solutions to the questions it asked.
