The theme of the year gone by: seven-seater SUVs. The way car companies had planned, 2021 saw many new seven-seaters one after the another. Combined with the COVID, lockdowns, changes in commuting styles, family priorities and revenge tourism, these vehicles also ended up becoming obvious choices. Kranti Sambhav recently drove two such vehicles back-to-back: Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV700. This was an attempt at understanding how these two are, as packages for customers who are looking at sportiness and utility of seven seats. I own the 2023 Alcazar, it is a mini tank, built like a beast. Pls go see the quality for yourself. Common features aside, Alcazar has several pluses. For eg, the noise insulation is awesome. Drive handling and quality are incomparable. Comes with head cushions and floor mats. Don’t have to spend a Rupee extra for anything additional, unlike XUV where floor mats alone cos upto 11k. Premium look, feel and reliability of the Alcazar are legendary. Features wise also, Alcazar is miles ahead. In XUV, barring the large screen, it looks quite dated. The feature comparison in the video compares XUV AX7L and Alcazar Signature. I own Platinum MT, barring ventilated seats, front parking sensors and a few more, I got the entire package for 22.50 lakhs, on-road Bengaluru. AX7L was way above my budget @ 33 lakhs (on-road Bengaluru). Waiting time for Alcazar was 8 days. Whereas, I had an AX5 booking that I cancelled after 3 price hikes in 1 year. AX5 is nothing compared to Alcazar Platinum. It does not even come with OVRM or a decent camera. Tell me, when you are paying 23 lakhs+, is expecting a decent camera wrong? In my Alcazar, I have a 360 degree camera and a superb reverse camera. I am biased towards Hyundai because I drove a 1015 fluidic Verna base model earlier. That car never failed me anytime. Can’t be said about XUV. Also, I feel XUV’s waiting is artificially inflated. As soon as I informed the Mahindra dealers (yes, I had 2 bookings) of my intention to cancel, they were both ready to offer me AX5 Diesel / Petrol. They also offered me AX7L or Scorpio N mid variant. So my verdict - Go for Alcazar with eyes closed, it is cheaper, mileage is good (I have a MT, I get 8-9 kmpl in the city, 13-14 on the highway). I expect it to rise as I drive more. It has a Bose speaker system, the screen UI is world class, the engine is peppy and the turbo rocks on highways. 18” alloys are awesome. GC on Alcazar 2023 is 200 mm, GC in XUV is 195 mm. For the price, I get a powered driver seat, auto OVRMs, auto headlights, a wireless charging pad, an executive kit, ergonomic cushions, an air purifier, Auto AC and what not. You get a few of these @ 33 lakhs in Bengaluru. The choice is yours.

We have always seen the features of Hyundai and Mahindra. Hyundai features are evergreen and well maintained by the company but when it comes to Mahindra no doubt features are nice but just in 2 to 3 years it will start showing problems and Mahindra service center will not be able to repair it they will change the product and will cost high.

Mahindra is playing with human emotions with XUV 700 , I booked 9 months back still no idea whether at all I will get it or not , so cancelling it , as they are taking the booking money and then all the customers are at stake , if they cannot produce why the hell theybare taking booking of the vehicle, same with Scorpio N , 2 years waiting period , is it a joke , to playbwith dreams and emotions , Have a creta now , shifting to diesel alcazar, Korean brand again , our indian brand could not fulfill their verdicts .

@@Neanderthals20 pehli baat toh XUV MAI 400 nahi, 450Nm Torque hain... Aur tumhe Hyundai vaalo ne chutiya bana diya hain 1.5L ka engine deke ek 20L ki gaadi mai😂😂. Performance ke mamle mai Alcazar xuv ke paas bhi nahi aa sakti. Rahi baat mileage ki toh, XUV mai bohot bada 2.2L (2197cc) ka engine hain jo bohot zyada power and torque nikalata hain....XUV bohot bhaari gaadi hain (2 tonnes). So if you dont have the money to maintain such a beast, accha hee hua tumne Alajhaat hee liyee😂😂👌Ye segment ke owners dont expect 20+ mileage from their cars. Luxury ke naam pe vo tin ke dabbe (Alcazar) mai sab jagah hard plastics diya hain. Its not a safe vehicle too, and the Seltos which is based on the same platform has scored 3 stars. XUV is better than Alcazar in every aspect. Vro tbh you'll feel how underpowered the Alcazar is when you'll sit 6 people in the car and drive it up a hill. You'll not be satisfied with the performance you gave 20L for.

You don't need 450nm to drive up a hill with 6/7 six-footers. 250 nm is almost sufficient. But still I'd say Hyundai should've given 300 -350 nm atleast. If the Tucson's diesel engine is shared with Alcazar, it will LITERALLY rule the segment. Moreover, calling 1.5 litre underpowered isn't justified, considering the extreme weight difference (1435 vs 2040 kgs) and power to weight ratio. And he clearly is using the car for NORMAL use, not for drag races or offroading... Alcazar's interior is way better than Xuv 700's. Many owners do expect 20+ mileage from their cars, that is why they go for efficient engines like this. Petrol gives better performance (hp, not torque) in both vehicles. People have choices, you see. Not everyone is an driving enthusiast. If ever a drag race would be conducted between Alcazar petrol and Xuv 700 petrol/diesel, it would be so close, that I can't say who'd win. The extra power and torque will be of less notice as weight difference is massive.
