The universe is more-so Dieselpunk with big, clunky industrialisation (like Oddworld and Wolfenstien: The New Order), Steampunk is brass, steam power and Victorian era styling.

An underrated gem I think. Completed it twice, thoroughly enjoyed myself both times. The most fun thing in this game was abusing the rewind excessively - any time enemies burst into view? Run towards their arrival point while rewinding time so you end up behind them when the fight starts. In general, rewind was actually the most effective ability, and the coolest in scripted sequences - running through a series of explosions while they un-exploded was such a cinematic thing. "The reverse time is mostly used for platforming and puzzles a handful of times..." No dude, use it ALL the time. Use it as your basic attack strategy. It's hilarious. Any time the enemy gets the jump on you? Just run towards them, while yanking time backwards.

I somewhat remember seeing this game at the stores, and wondered what it was all about, as no one at the time seemed to talk about it. Great to finally see what it was about, and seems to be somewhat of a hidden gem! Another great video Mr Canny! 9:19 As far as I know, after loading the save you need to wait for some time. If after loading you immediately click on rewind time, it will end almost immediately, because in this situation the game does not count the time that was before you loaded the save and cannot transfer you in time before it. The game was also reworked when it moved from Atari to Sierra, you can search for videos on KZbin about the original builds and the 2006 version.

Wild, Hearing about Saber interactive twice in the last 3ish hours. Met a Russian, hideo Kojima lookalike at a lcoal game jam today who works for Saber's upcoming project. We called him VIDEO kojima who makes Saber's HIDEOgames. What a blast it was. Just sharing that because i cackled at the name Video Kojima non stop.

This was one of the many games I got cheap in the years betwenn the Ps4 coming out and me getting one. It was fun but it needed a sequel badly because I hate unresolved cliffhangers. Sure Singularity does a similar concept better IMO but it also came out years later.

Man i used to have a really early demo cd of this game i really liked messing around with it as a kid reversing time stopping etc.. demo had a really unique atmosphere and a voiced protagonist unlike the full game where it's just gray and brown filter and we're just playing as john timeshift concept demo was better it also had a way different and (in my opinion) superior logo

It'd be nice if Saber Interactive made another FPS like Timeshift. Even that new Turok they announced is 3rd person wth. I'd like to get this to play on Xbox Series X, but it is $29.99 digital and I've yet to see it go on sale. They finally got Ninja Gaiden Black on sale, but not Timeshift. Shame we didn't get what they originally showed off for Timeshift. Say the same for Singularity.

I dont understand how can you compare this to bioshock because it has some large vending machines that look like bioshock. The entire game is like half life 2 but instead of a eastern europe setting it has a alternative timeline setting. That would imply that half life 1 is not half life because it doesnt look like half life 2. The way the game play is like half life 2, you join the rebels, fight against an authoritarian regime and you got a talking suit and you go to the outskirts and you drive vehicles and your character never talks, its not a immersive sim like bioshock or system shock or deus ex. Also the back lore on this game is deep. Originally it looked very different, it looks like a russian game, because it was, the graphics and art style reminded me of games like exodus from the earth dusk 12 and other mid 2000s russian games. Then they picked up the game from cancelation and improved the graphics and changed the visuals and they even had a hollywood actor to be the main character with name and everything and there was more story and cutscenes that you can see in the pre release trailers, but most of that content is gone from the game, really sad. Saber should remaster it like they did with so many games recently.

Played this game a few years ago. It's fine but could have been a lot better. Not much in terms of story and can feel pretty empty at times outside of the basic combat. No secrets or reason to explore or anything. Personally I like to think of this title as the prequal to Singularity which whilst short felt a lot more polished and had kind of the same concept of manipulating time. Funny enough both games went through dev hell which sucks as a lot of content was cut from both.
