If the sovereignty of the internationaly recognised borders of a country are under attack by an autocratic regime, then those borders must be defended. If the country under attack is a European country, then other European countries can assist the country under attack, with everything at their disposal. That includes making the enemy aware of their defence capabilities. If a country is at war with a friendly neighbour, then attacking the invader is defence of sovereignty and nothing else.
