Private security can’t evict. They will go to jail for committing a crime. The problem in the first place was opening the borders. ANC, EFF, owed allegiance to other African countries for their assistance to fight for the rights of black people, so that meant they could put their unwanteds on busses, planes,trains and get rid of their headaches. I grew up in Ferndale, house 403 Long Avenue which now is a complex, we sold when the developers came. We used to have the church and a sheeben over the road from us. We surprisingly never had any issuse with the sheeben. the house on long avenue you showed over there was always empty and had nothing. It was a few house away from a friend of mine. Used to be a great area used to cycle everywhere around there. I left Ferndale about 5 or 6 years ago to move closer to work.But if i remember correctly were quite few houses that looked empty from cork up to west.

@@etvscandalfanpage2011 There was one house down long avenue where the lady died, luckily if i'm correct the land didn't get hijacked and later on someone took over and revamped it into a guest house. But why the rest became empty looking I have no idea, not sure if people just packed up and left or even possibly died. The plot next to 405 Long Avenue before it became a business complex was open land that was fenced off. For years they couldn't build on it until they got everyone off the land. The houses they showed at the end if i'm correct never had anyone in it. Think it's on corner of Long Avenue and Rocky St. They were always over grown.

Most of the properties owned by the gauteng municipalty are ones bought up in the 1970s when there was a plan to make a freeway through Ferndale to Sandton City area , the two propetries that blocked that project were St Stithlians College and the old Nestle House .

A house near mine was burnt down a few nights after vagrants moved in. They are now taking it apart plank by plank brick by brick. The roof has already gone off in countless shopping trolleys. The law suits the hijackers and disempowers the owners with difficult legal requirements and delays.

The problem with that particular property is that it is undevelopable due to a man made underground river flows literally just infront of the residencial building , so it has no commercial value for a developer , hence is has been abandoned . It was once a very nice upmarket house , sad to see its demise . It needs to either be demolished or restored as a residencial dwelling , considering its location , demolition is proberably the way to go , much like the property next to it on Bond St , that also turned out a white elephant due to the same reason . It is a problem that plauges all the properties through that dip till you get to the river just below Vale ave .

Obviously Gauteng Provincial Government doesn't need, use nor maintain these two properties in Ferndale, so why they don't publicly auction them off at a market price reserve? Government will receive money for service delivery, auction them off to the highest bidder.

I removed Tenants and Squarter from my place with relative ease.They threatened to sue just like the lady says they have rights and I told them their rights ended outside my gate.I further explained what would happen if they came back,problem solved without involving the police, some paid up and stayed on the Straight and Narrow while others relocated somewhere else for good.

The mega problem is that the occupants refuse to be relocated. That is what the undocumented people do. You saw what a saga occurred in Pretoria where the inhabitants camped in an informal settlement outside the UN buildings. They were predominantly refugees demanding to be sent to other countries. Well once they were accepted as refugees in SA they cannot then decide well, our expectations haven’t been met here we choose somewhere else and we expect you to pay our fare into the bargain. Moeller I’m all for human rights, and if he people seeking humanitarian assistance would show that they are able to look after what has been given to them in terms of accommodation, instead of destroying everything in sight. If they tended the grounds and grew vegetables, and kept the area clean, then maybe, they would be seen in a different light, and become people that the rest of the country would like to assist. Ferndale was an upper middle class neighbourhood. Johannesburg is captured. It doesn’t take a blind man to see that nor a deaf man to hear it.

Clean up, keep it tidy, fix stuff if you break it, don't set fire to stuff, etc - it doesn't cost anything to do that and would make the people around you far more accepting of your presence there.
