@@JeremyAbear I was watching a documentary and it showed the apt building and I had a flash back. I used to deliver pizzas in and near downtown Ft worth. I looked up the official Suff vs Texas case and it mentioned the address 1610 Alston ave Ft worth Texas. And bingo it was the exact place I remembered. It’s an old house that was converted into 4 units. It’s in a historic district so all of the houses there have to remain the same.

Bill Suff worked for my grandparents in Lake Elsinore while he was on his killing spree. He used to give me a ride home from school on his motorcycle. When he was arrested, I did the math and figured out that at least a couple times, he gave me a ride home and killed someone in the same day.

Couple things right off the bat: 1. Hell yeah thank you for bringing up womens rights and feminism. I think you should do a Timesuck episode on feminism. I’d suggest tackling it in its waves and within those waves, different main branches and criticisms. I think we’re getting to a point where intersectional feminism (which is in my opinion, the most comprehensive and integral to the feminist movement) is getting more and more widespread attention and coming into popular consciousness. 2. Carol obviously absolutely should have left, but I think it’s worth interrogating why she didn’t (or if that was really even a viable option). I don’t want to turn this into a “she’s a complete victim” vs “she’s a complete monster,” what I mean when I say I’m not sure she was able to is with consideration of: -finances and childcare being tied to this guy -where were she and her children going to go? Were there any women’s shelters available at that time? -was it safe for her and the children to leave? Entitled psychopaths like this guy hunt down, terrorize and stalk their partners and children even if they did successfully “leave” -what level of cultural and religious pressure was there, insisting everything was her fault and that it’s her duty to stay? Remember, it takes a certain number of times to leave an abusive relationship because of the psychological grip abusers have. I also think it’s worth noting how our “default” response to true crime stories and the people involved is informed by the framework of the court system’s decisions. Meaning, we’re forced into a binary “guilty” or “not guilty” in court, so the way we interpret and judge the “case” is also through that binary lens. That being said, yeah, I just hope this doesn’t turn into “why didn’t the mom do anything?” when it should be “why is this dad doing this in the first place?” But I also don’t want to take complete agency away from Carol in the situation. These conversations are incredibly hard to navigate.

I love this thought-provoking comment, Sarah! Yes - it's complicated in situations where someone like Carol is not the abuser. She's a victim of abuse herself. How much responsibility does a parent bear in a situation where they are not protecting their child, but also, their child is being abused by the same person that is abusing them? It's so easy for me to judge, since I'm not in that situation and also, a 6'1" 235 pound man with the ability to financially provide for not only myself but also my kids. It would be much easier for me to stand up to Bill than it would be for Carol to do so. But also... is allowing your infant to be slowly beaten to death over the period of a few months excusable in any circumstance outside of actual imprisonment? (I'm thinking of an extreme situation such as a mother being kept in a concentration camp). It's all so tricky. I feel like Carol should not be totally absolved for her lack of intervention, but also, I feel terrible for her as well. It's so complex. What is not complex is judging Bill himself. He is the clear monster in all of this. Okay - I'm rambling now. Thank you for commenting!

@VioletRing779 ай бұрын
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef thoroughly, then pour off and discard grease. Add one half of the bell peppers, stewing onions and mushrooms, plus one tablespoon malt vinegar, 2 tablespoons butter, 1 tablespoon chili powder, one teaspoon salt, and one package chili mix seasoning. Cook 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Pour juices into a saucepan after spooning the meat and veggies into a 2 quart crock pot set to low heat. Place the saucepan juices, covered, over low heat to simmer. Next cook the ribeye, shredded beef, stew beef, and maybe a human breast in the skillet, then discard the grease. Then follow the above directions to cook the second half of the above ingredients with the meat. Again, pour the juices into the saucepan to simmer and the solids into the crock pot. To the simmering saucepan add the pickle relish, garlic, salt, hickory smoked salt, lemon juice, minced onion, cornstarch and oregano. Bring the heat up to medium, stirring until the mixture begins to boil, then add the mixture to the crock pot. To the ingredients in the crock pot, stir in the flat beer, tomato puree, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, jalapeno pepper, black pepper, bay leaves, two cups crushed Fritos, remaining butter and one cup shredded cheese. Cover and let cook on medium for 2 hours, or on low for a minimum of 15 hours, stirring occasionally. When through cooking, locate and discard bay leaves. Then pour remaining cheese over top chili, cover and let's sit 10 minutes with the heat off, allowing the cheese to melt completely. Serve hot with paprika sprinkled over the top of each serving, and put remaining Fritos in a side dish for dipping. Salt and pepper to taste. *Disclaimer: I used Sir Mushmouth's reading along with a recipe I found online to put this together.
