Mick Aston what a man I would have liked to meet him but alas I learned about time team last year by accident I am just so happy to have found the series. I definitely wish this was promoted more especially in today's age as it is intellectually powerful as the Time Team consistently shows us how to build theories and how to question and work with opposing theories and most importantly it shows people how one can disagree and still be great mates and have a pint together at the end. And that just scratches the surface it has provided plenty of unique insights on history that I would not have learned about in any other way (I love history as a hobby), and archeology in general is not often talked about so to get some insight on the process is amazing. I really was sad to find out that this fantastic series ended, I hope one day the world will get another team like Time Team except one that does archeology like this around the globe how amazing would that be!

It's quite sad that Mick's departure from the series was acrimonious. The producers decided to go in a "more polished" direction (subtext - hire pretty cohosts), and Mick felt very strongly that they were dumbing down the science, and degrading a show he dedicated so many years to. He died just over one year after leaving the show.

Tony is the only front for the camera that is needed, and his real interest in archeology shines through. He is not just delivering his lines. Do these producers and writers think that we have to be manipulated and entertained with these little show biz tricks? The popularity of this show over almost 2 decades prove that we do not, the real thing is more than enough. I can understand the desire to build something extra into the series as some previous episodes must have been a producer's nightmare when there was little found or the weather hampered the archaeology, but I regret to say, the revamped format went too far into being top heavy with distractions from what the series was always about - archaeology. Thus I can see why some familiar faces left, while others may rightly have felt disgruntled after being relegated to side show status. Thankfully the old format is back via Patreon, and with some familiar faces too. What's perhaps most comforting to me is that many of those who rose to prominence over the Time Team years (e.g. Raksha, Matt, & Brigid) have gone on to great things, but what would we give for a reunion?

Well unfortunately the British (and most Europeans in general) are quite prideful. Also some British come over to the US to actually praise our system because it is one of the few in the world that is not Parilimentary and doesn't have the issues that a Parliamentry system has. I would say that our biggest weakness is letting the Executive Branch legislate and letting the Courts legislate and of course, lacking certain broad based ideals that cement civilization itself. We need a Constitutional Convention to fix these structural issues.
