The Astral is their premium range. They won't ruin it with a tacky white version; that's what the Strix is for.

1) 5080 and 5090 (Air + 5090 LC) = ROG Astral 2) 5070 and 5070 Ti = ROG Strix 3) 5070 up to 5090 = TUF 4) 5070 up to 5080 = PRIME All 4 series and all classes of cards offer each a basic and an OC variant. The liquid-cooled LC variant is for 5090 ROG Astral only. This listing is valid as of January 8th, 2025! Further color schemes and series of Asus cards might be announced soon. Emphasis is on might be announced.

Maybe white versions of Strix and / or Astral come soon and even minor series that aren't listed at the moment get thrown on the market way later. No official info, just assumptions from my side. The Prime series might be a good alternative for a budget-friendly upgrade. It might have lower power limit, run 5 degrees hotter and doesn't clock super high and it lacks RGB, but, as said, it might be an option for former DUAL-tier interested customers of Asus videocards. Waiting for in-depth tests is recommended before buying blindly, though.

Put simply, Nvidia has a MUCH LARGER budget for R&D compared to board partners. Will have to see how the noise and thermals are to really compare the two.

Nvidia focuses on balanced solutions, whereas board partners provide higher performance cards with more aggressive cooling solutions at the cost of higher power draw. If you aren't interested in overclocking (and possibly watercooling) just want a balanced card that works, FE version is usually a better choice, but then no point buying flagship if you don't really care about top performance.

Always liked the Strix but never liked the price because it was always priced so much more higher than the other GPU's on the market. So if the Astral takes over that premium slot where the Strix is (or was now i guess) and that comes with a bit of a price drop too, then i'm not gonna complain.

i always found those astral designs to look childish, so that at least is attractive. and since ROG overcharges alot, i hope that backfan at least comes free of charge. LOL ofc not. all that material alone is 200 bucks and we are wondering why our gpu´s get more expensive. back then a 8800gtx was still barely even just a 2 slot longer than 250mm. 8800gt single slot designs.times are over sure, but that astral is just posh.
