People always thought I was shy. I sat alone, didn't initiate conversations, etc. truth is, I don't want to annoy people. I don't want to suddenly sit with people who hated me and I had no idea. I didn't want to talk to someone who doesn't want to be talked to. People don't tell me if they don't like me, so I assume they don't. But, if someone sits with me, starts a conversation with me, I won't shut up. When people invite me to sit with them, it's the best day ever.
@suckmysniper6497 жыл бұрын
I agree. I also get super sensetive about people's feelings inside. I also perfer to be alone, since i feel like I understand myself the most. (Duh.)

genjutsu... its not just you my friend. I'm constantly telling people to repeat themselves. you'd think after my 3rd "you need to speak up, I can't hear you" the morons would figure it out. but deafness isn't a part of most people's everyday experience. its not essential that every one knows. but it is essential that every one learns; like you. i'm sure the girl you met experienced that a lot and understood. but its much more common for people to be offended by my not hearing them than I am from their anger at me from asking them to speak up.

People are not obligated to engage with strangers. And even if someone is not deaf, or blind, maybe they're thinking of their own challenges or goals and don't want to engage with anybody. If you really must barge in on a person's "me time," offer a smile and if they make eye contact and smile back, you've broken the ice.
@person8834 Жыл бұрын
To be honest, it’s still smart to verbally let them know this, like saying “I’m not in the mood for conversation”. People aren’t mind readers and aren’t always aware of nonverbal social cues. It takes two seconds to communicate this. Afterwards, you can ignore them all you want because they now definitely know. It’s more productive to actually use your words.

This touched my soul in a very meaningful way. This short clearly shows we’re ALL far from being perfect: no matter white, black, man, woman… it depicts how easily we can misunderstand others. Even if we have a perfect appearance on the outside, that doesn’t mean we’re free of imperfections. That lady had such a big heart out of guilt by leaving him the drawing… and mark my words: if I was him, I wouldn’t stop until finding her to say how sorry I am for this. Even though it’s scripted, I put myself on her shoes, and imagine the helplessness and suffering she felt when he unknowingly lashed out at her. God bless those who suffer in silence and can’t express themselves.
@smerchly Жыл бұрын

Sometimes I'm too busy scrolling down the comments until the screen looks right that I forget to focus on the video and I end up having to replay it all over again. When I'm watching youtube on computer, I have to move the cursor at the top right corner, or the sides at the right spot. Then I have to move it again later just to make sure I know where it is, then I have to move it back to the corner of the laptop and just ughh 😂 😂 So I feel you

I judged too quickly on another girl before. I thought she was popular, trust fund baby, the "it" girl, confident; but when she failed embarrassingly at a class project, I reached out to her. Turned out she is so self-conscious, lost her mom at a young age, struggles with an overly controlling brother and she works hard working fast food every day. The girl I judged ended up becoming one of my best friends when I gave her the benefit of my own doubt. Don't judge people too quickly. You never know when the person you judge is the person you need in your life.

If a person has a noticeable handicap other people will make allowances , even be helpful sometimes ? But deafness is seldom noticed at first glance , so the reactions of people can at be harsh . So thank you for making and sharing your film .

Yes, this goes for several other condition too, such at autism. Here is a real example, in my second or third year at uni, I joined staff in interviewing students, whom had applied to study there, we read their application form which included a statement from them and also a statement from one of their current tutors, which the perspective student had not seen. Although this was about 20 yrs ago, I clearly remember one tutor in their statement stating that this female student didn't pay attention n didn't listen. She stated that she wanted to be in the front row at lectures, because she was partially deaf, I think also asked if she could make a audio recording of lectures. Her current tutor who had written the statement clearly didn't have a clue, n the tutors with me agreed with that.

This happened to me a couple years ago at the library. I am Caucasian and the woman next to me finally got my attention. As I could lip read, and adjust aid, we were able to communicate. She thought I was ignoring her because of race. We straightened it out. I think she will be more mindful about why someone may not respond now. Ditto for scooter or bike riders on sidewalk. They think because they are saying something like "Excuse me" loudly that you can understand it. It just blends in with all the traffic noise. reminded me to keep to the right on the sidewalk always to minimize injury.

Hey person 🙃, so here’s the deal,God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life- abundant and eternal.But we choose to disobey God and go our own willful and sinful way. This results in separation from God.But Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.You must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation to receive that free gift and eternal life, think about this, have a blessed day 💙.

I'm an interpreter sign language. See this all the time :'( And personally I stand up every single time for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Sometimes people judge me too. They are angry because I tell them the person is deaf or the deaf people judging me by various reasons. Luckily most of the people (deaf and hearing) are very happy with me, my translations and my reaching out to make the world a happy respectful place for any-, and everybody !

The other day an elderly woman walked past my house carrying several bags. I had just come back from somewhere, and as I got out of my car, I called to her, "Do you need a ride?" She didn't acknowledge me. Rather than go after her and possibly scare her, I just let it go, and assumed she was either hard of hearing or didn't trust strangers. Don't assume someone always hears you, and if you know they did, understand that they are not obligated to respond to you, and let it go.

In a lot of small towns people can still leave things unguarded but it's not an issue of "values" these days. It's a matter of the likelihood that the thief could be seen by a mutual acquaintance of the owner. Either that, or the owner, not having far to go in a small town, will likely return sooner than in a big city.

Attitude problem? This is coming from a male who never had to fend off an over "enthusiastic" guy all the while fearing for their safety? This "attitude problem" you refer too in the result of males demanding attention from "pretty young girls" and getting pissed off when they don't get it. This film illustrates just the problem. He thinks she ahs an "attitude problem" and gets a bit verbally abusive about it. So many the point of the film is just the opposite of what everyone here thinks it is. Maybe this young lady has had males be verbally or even physically abusive to her when she didn't respond the way he wanted her to. Wouldn't you have an "attitude problem" if you were afraid of some random guy making nice and it turning ugly? Again, don't judge too quickly

there is a neat trick in "folding" your headphones so they dont tangle as much.... (sorry for bad english its not my native) -> if you "wrap" (fold....) them from earplug side towards the "jack" (part that goes in your mp3-4, phone, etc) they tend to tangle less than usual, at least that is my expirience. i hold earplugs with my thumb and wrap the rest around my fingers gently, later you just check that "jack" part is not pulled trough any loop, hold it between fingers and drop the rest to unfold, 8 out of 10 times not tangled.....

Others have commented about the video's weaknesses, which I noticed as well, but the basic plot rings true. I was teaching some kids who came from rough families. They were behaving pretty well, but one kid refused to listen to me even after I spoke harshly to him and put him in a corner of the room. The other kids noticed his behavior and were like, why is he being so bad? After class I found out from the leader of the event that the boy was deaf. I had no idea, and it made me feel a lot like the guy in this video.

She doesn't need to be apologize for being deaf. He should apologize for being a jerk, although she couldn't hear him to know that.
