Pretty sure the story you guys mentioned about "leading a tiger off the mountain" is from the Water Margin. It's Wu Song's background legend before he joins the outlaws. On his way back to his home province after a suspected murder, he stops at an inn in the mountains. On the way in he sees a sign saying "After Three Drinks, Do Not Cross the Mountains." Being a legendary badass in a wuxia novel, he scoffs at anyone telling him to restrain his alcoholism, let alone an inanimate object doing so. He proceeds to drink a ludicrous amount of the Inn's homebrew, where it finally catches up to him as he leaves to proceed up the mountain. The inn-keeper warns him to stay the night, but Wu Song just assumes he's a shady innkeeper trying to scam him out of the night's rent. He staggered drunkenly up the mountain before looking for a place to pass out, when he was ambushed by a tiger. In a drunken stupor, he beat the tiger to death with his bare hands because he broke his staff on a tree thanks to the beer goggles. When some local hunter stumbled across his tiger, the fame landed him a job as a constable nearby, which absolutely would never lead to any other ridiculous hijinks.
