Chinese watchmaker Thorn have offered the toolless bracelet adjustment for about a year now. Thailand watchmaker Wise, just updated the bracelet for their ADX GMT with the same feature and that watch is just over $700, made of 904L stainless steel with a miyota 9075 movement.
@Uniongamers7 күн бұрын
I'm sorry but why compare this to a Chinese watch? You buy a Timex because you respect the brand and what they stand for. With a Chinese brand you buy it because you want features cheap and don't care about horology or the actual effort that goes into not only building a watch, but building a brand. Who gives a crap some generic Ali Express brand has introduced some feature before Timex. Thorn, San Martin, Pagani, etc... are non brands and an insult to horology. They are 'brands' created to dupe Western buyers.

"Timex just changed the game forever" is the sort of headline that pulls me in looking for some monstrous innovation. The one innovation I see is a $2,000 price tag on a Timex. A very nice one, but it's not a game changer except for Timex. If there's only one player there's no game to change! There are many other watches at this price point that I would def prefer.

You mean like Hamilton? A sad fact is that Swiss Made commands a premium so accountants like it. At present nobody will pay $2k for watch made in a country with no recent watchmaking heritage (statistical outliers aside.) It shouldn't be like that, but....accountants. Yes, somehow, I just don't think of Timex as a luxury brand. For the price they want for this watch, you can get an entry-level, true, "luxury" brand, and might have some cash left over. If you want something completely off the beaten path, check out Xeric watches. They have some pretty cool designs that cost way less than this Timex. You might have to learn how to tell time all over again, but they're some real conversation starters.

I have a fully titanium automatic watch with the same bracelet resize system which cost about $135. This piece is really a stunning design and unique in its construction (although I do have another Ti watch with a partial sapphire case which also cost far less). Even if that's a top grade Sellita, I'm not sure they can really put the cost down to any of these factors, it's more the price you pay for something as unique and well designed. I would, however, expect the finishing on this bracelet to be well executed. Sharp edges are not excusable at this price point.
