Thanks. My Mini Cooper R55 had no markings on EX or IN markings camshafts. After looking for ages on the web, I found your KZbin video. Your advice came in very handy. Thanks again.😊

Thank you! I got my timing tool kit today and wondered why there were THREE brackets, and where the third went? And you clearly stated the answer to my question, the other bit is for the n18 engine. Another happy viewer, great vid! :)

Hello, if the cams are out of timing can I rotate them after the flywheel is locked?

Yes, when the flywheel is locked in correctly all of the piston heights should be the same, half travel. At this point you can turn cams without bending valves.

I have an n12 that a cant seem to get the crank pin to seat. So many things wrong with this. Looks like head and timing components were replaced but intake and exhaust nuts missing, none if the head bolts were torqued the same etc. With the crank lock not installed I brought the #1 piston tdc and the cams are not close to being locked. Is that telling me the cam timing is off or is that normal. I'm gonna investigate the crank lock a little better today but wondering if this set up as it is is correct? My experience says no...

MINI uses special tools that line up when the pistons are all center in travel. They don’t use TDC for setting the timing components mechanically, may be because of the interference engine.
