Calicoan Island: My FAVORITE Place in the Philippines.

Part of me doesn't want anyone to know about this special island that hangs off of Samar. It is an amazing place with surf, adventure and people who will be friends with you immediately. It is Calicoan Island.

That takes me back 10 years ago to my time in San Juan, La Union surfing and exploring the beautiful countryside during the day then eating and drinking San Miguel and Redhorse with the super friendly locals during the night. Good times in the Province😁

I'm from the Caribbean Tim, that fish 350 per kilo we have that. We call it king fish and it is expensive here also. But it's worth it if you like fish. The first one she was showing as class A and B, we call it cavali. The cavali is a firm fish that we mostly put in fish soup that we call broth, it's firm and won't dissolve easily that's why we make soup with it. We have most of the fishes there as it's like the same zone close to the equator. I think that red fish was a a red snapper or just red fish as we would say. The place looks great man.

Wow! That brings back memories. I was there about 10-12 years ago and stayed at the Surf Camp. It was $100 a night and worth it. Pure luxury. I heard it was destroyed in the storm and hasn't reopened. The waves were about the same. Only 4-5 guys out.

Tim I speak waray, and it was funny when one of the vendor say translation is Now we have to use what we went to school for 😂 they are referring to English. it just goes to show you all foreigners watching this that if language barrier is your stressor, your stressing yourself for nothing. I went to S Korea and all the taxi drivers don't speak English at all even the simplest word at least in Ph you won't have this issue even vendor's can carry a descent conversation.

I like this video. I have been to Samar few times to visit relatives.
