I work in the business.For films, series and often for theater too, we do chemistry castings to see which two have a spark, a good level with each other. Often we already have one actor and then test several out to match with them. It's not about sexual chemistry, it's about an energy level and acting style that immediately fit well, just like best friends can goof around and no one gets them. Some people just click! People can have a sexual tension because they are a fit biologically, but not match as a pair because they don't click, are on different levels energy wise etc. We also test people for grandmas and kids chemistry, for example. In Timothee and Arnie's case the sexual tension is created by the superb editing and acting and because they click as people. Sexual tension between acting people can mess up the chemistry, so I would say they did not have any, they are just very good actors in an exciting film
