This episode is a reminder why I don’t really do whale watching. Yes, most species are incredibly docile, friendly, and stunning to look at… FROM A DISTANCE. Not only are you respecting their boundaries, but you’re not gonna get slammed if they breach and land on a boat (which has happened in some areas) and you won’t be mistaken for their lunch (yes, I know a humpback’s throat is roughly the same size as your fist, but still…)

Poor Plankton.. one of the few times I feel bad for him here… Gary was so cute with Mary. I felt bad for him when she ended up with Billy. And I like how that gang leader snail ended up befriending Gary after their fight between Mary, lol. Singy Eaty time is a silly name for the dinner theater event, and there was no singing in Squidward’s play 🤣 That Rodeo song by Sandy is so catchy and fun.. One course meal is honestly one of the most hated episode from modern SpongeBob. Plankton may be a villain but this is where his suffering really went too far. What mostly upsets me is that not only plankton was driven to become suicidal but also when SpongeBob went to tell Mr krabs that plankton wanted to unalive himself, Mr krabs freaking laughs about it!! This is why these seasons are like pretty much hated. The people who took charge in the show have no idea how these characters are supposed to be, and the type of humor is just more cruel than actually funny like in the first 3 seasons. Like at least season 4 and 5 were decent. But the rest.. eehhh… 😓

Idk if season 7 is considered modern SpongeBob anymore, now that there’s with season 14& 15, but yeah I don’t like One Course Meal. It’s just cruel and not funny. I remember that one episode where Mr. Krabs felt bad about destroying Plankton’s emporium and had that telephone call scene. Then, they go back to being frenemies again at the end of the episode. I miss that type of characterization.

We finally got to another one of the most controversial episodes of the series. One Coarse Meal seems to have a typical plot (Plankton being scared off every time he goes to the Krusty Krab), Mr. Krabs instead goes to him to scare him into suicide. I don’t hate it as much but it’s still not good due to how blatant it is, also Mr. Krabs getting away with it at the end. Gary in Love is fine, The Play’s the Thing is the first time in the series it is said that Squidward is an octopus (and this has always been a thing since the series bible and the behind the scenes of the first movie). Rodeo Daze isn’t anything special.

Plankton's fear of Pearl never made sense to me. In the episode where he and Mr. Krabs swap lives, he's not afraid of her at all. I'm guessing when you're running this long with new writers replacing the old ones, there's going to be inconsistencies.

I detect a flaw in the plankton pearl episode. There are 2 types of whales. Toothed whales like sperm and killer whales have teeth, so they eat larger prey. Baleen whales like blue and humpbacks have fibers in place of teeth that filter microscopic fish from water. And I deduce that Pearl is a toothed whale, so plankton shouldn’t be scared of her. But it’s just a cartoon

They probably only got to this season because they thought it'll tone it back a bit which it unfortunately didn't. Another reason is that they're probably completionists Luckily, I feel that it goes dial down next season and if I'm not wrong...the second half of Season 7 isn't as extreme as the first half

I don't think One Coarse Meal is the #1 worst SpongeBob episode like what everyone else says, but the hate is justified because of how they treat suicide like a joke and how the episode exposes Mr. Krabs' real true colors. It's among the top 3 worst SpongeBob episodes, but The Splinter is my personal least favorite SpongeBob episode ever. At least the sister episode was good. In fact, the best episode of the season.

“One Course meal” isn’t worst episode from SpongeBob. I get some being upset from Mr Krabs traumatizing Plankton but there’s only one scene of Mr Krabs scaring Plankton dressed as Pearl in the whole episode, it didn’t felt anything psychological for me. The suicide joke is not new to SpongeBob. Also Plankton still tries to steal even after all that. So I don’t feel bad for him.
