This was a very interesting and thoughtful discussion on Christian nationalism. As a Christian and an American I believe that one of the things that makes America great is the fact that the founding fathers purposefully separated the church from the state. That is what makes the US different from the rest of many countries as we had the freedom to worship or not to worship as we pleased. I’m so tired of the angry rhetoric from the right that demonizes anyone who is what they call liberal. That is not Christian or Christlike when we are called to love thy neighbor.
@Cinnamonbuns132 жыл бұрын
The separation of Church and State prevents the creation of a national church. I.E. The Church of England. It was not saying the Government was not to govern according to Christian morality or Biblical revelation.
@jumpman51503 жыл бұрын
Tim nailed it. The issue with Christian Nationalism is that it completely undermines the First Amendment, “Freedom of Religion.” How is it American to make everyone follow “YOUR” interpretation of Christianity? That’s forcing religion. Evangelicals would have a fit if Jews or Muslims did this and called it American.
@itkirk2 жыл бұрын
I find it interesting that just like how there are different denominations in Christianity, there are different definitions of Christian nationalism within the churches. As an atheist I am interested in what the churches are saying and so far it’s very muddied. I find more churches that are against Christian nationalism, but still some are saying there is nothing with it and at the same time saying the other churches are wrong with their definitions. I am very scared of this country becoming a theocracy with this rise of Christian nationalism. I do NOT want this to happen and lose my freedoms to some religious government. It’s concerning that the church can’t agree and come to a consistent message about this.

@@itkirk Christianity has nothing to do with what you just mentioned. Look at Jesus and what he did for you. Read the Bible yourself and decide. Humans are fallen, that’s no surprise and is a pretty fallen argument to denounce Christianity all together for a groups of fallen people who have done bad things in the name of religion. Also, in the name of irreligion bad people has prospered. The question is, which founder of all the religions died for its people, lived a perfect life, was God in flesh and spirit and forgives you. It’s only Christianity.

@Jeju Island Trekker Either you are completely disingenuous, dishonest, or both. "Christianity has nothing to do with what you just mentioned." Really . . . Really?! People have abused children for decades under the umbrella of christianity and religion. Have you not heard of the Catholic church? The southern baptist church, or mormon temple? Like it or not, these organizations are ALL under the umbrella of christianity. People in power have taken advantage of others because of their position, but have been dismissed of all consequences because they have been ordained and are "children of god." Nothing to do with christianity, my ass. I have been to sunday school as a kid, read the bible cover to cover, studied it with church groups while all at the same time read the qaran, baghavad ghita, tao te ching and other philosophies of various cultures. Your "jesus" is no different then Muhammed, Siddhartha or even quetzalcoatl. Maybe you should read all of what the aztec serpent bird did for you. Throughout my reading I have come to one simple conclusion, ALL organized religion is bullshit. It's all just psyche projection trying to make sense of the world. We are flawed naturally. Just like you are born with four limbs, somebody can be born with 3. It's happened before, it can happen again. Just like you are born with sight, someone can be born blind. It's repeatable over and over again. I can give reason why lightning strikes by resorting to the mythology of Thor, but I'm not because it's absurd. Just like the belief of any god is absurd. I will always go to the position of living for what I have here on earth because that is the only life I have. I believe that consequences and my morality are derived directly from how I treat people and how they react, no matter how flawed they are.

It is clear that departure from God’s word creates chaos, all you have to do is read the Old Testament to find that out. The more Israel rejected God, the more wicked they became. Likewise, the more the world rejects Christ, the more wicked they will become. Why do we as Christians want others to be Christians too? Because we love people, and we desire that they be saved by repenting and putting their trust in Jesus. Unless they do this, they will spend eternity in hell.
@ella53192 жыл бұрын
@@spovlock51 Yes we do want people to become Christian's because only then can they receive the Spirit and begin a relationship with Christ. I said why do we believe the world should "Think" like Christians do because they don't, they don't have the ability to understand from a Christian perspective. The Apostle Paul said it this way Ephesians 4: 18 - 19 "They are darkened in their understanding and separated from God because their ignorance due to the harding of their heart." Christians think the world should understand things that only comes with a change through the desire to know God and the leading of the Holy Spirit, they do not, we complain and judge them when we should know they don't need our condemnation because they are already condemned. You are correct that we are share to share the Good News so they can be saved, but until they see their need they won't see the world differently.

Just as we are called to love our spouse above all other women, our family above other families, should not we care for our community, city, state & nation above others as the place where God has called us to live and work? Here's the thing. God is in control of all the affairs of the world. We cannot change God's plan by voting or committing an insurrection in an attempt to overthrow the government. The purpose of Christianity is to bring souls to Jesus. The honest supplicant for salvation is given the Holy Spirit to guide him or her on their way. There is scripture that can help. Matthew, 5-7. These are the commandments given by Jesus, and on the day of judgment, we will be compared with how we obey these commandments. Politics are evil. Lies, slander, flattery, bribery, theft, coercion, extortion, hypocrisy, and murder. These are the very foundation of All politics, and, All political platforms, And All politicians must employ these vile tools to get power and influence. Really, everybody knows this. Jesus is the truth. So, clearly, there can be no mixture of Christianity and politics.

Jesus is indeed Lucifer the Morning Star, which is why Isaiah 14:12 lists Lucifer as the Morning Star and then Jesus calls himself the Morning Star in Rev 22:16. The reason Christards fail to see the obvious is because they are brainwashed by their churches into reading the Bible BACKWARDS and reading the New Testament BEFORE the Old Testament. We read books from FRONT TO BACK for a reason, and that is because you can't possibly understand the end of a book that you don't understand the beginning of. And it is not even possible to fully understand a book from reading the LAST QUARTER of it. With that being said...----> Adam and Eve were NOT first, and the 2 stories of Creation in Genesis are NOT about the same Creation as the Christian church teaches. GOD makes people on the 6th day of Creation in Genesis 1:26. Then in Genesis chapter 2 God rests, God sanctifies the 7th day, and then the LORD God of Israel creates Adam and Eve on the 7th day of Creation. To work on the 7th day that God has blessed and sanctified is BLASPHEMY, which is what makes the LORD God SATAN the LORD of this world. That also makes clear that Adam and Eve were NOT FIRST, they were made second. Doesn't the 6th day of Creation come BEFORE the 7th day of Creation?----> The family lineage that begins with Adam and ends with Jesus is the family lineage made by SATAN the LORD God, not God. That's why Isaiah 14:12 lists Lucifer as the Morning Star, and then Jesus calls himself the Morning Star in Rev 22:16. Jesus was Lucifer in the flesh, not God in the flesh. Jesus is Lucifer the Morning Star! Go to my channel for more details... That NEW WORLD Order that Alex Jones and other GOP Christards pretend to fight is really the goal of Christianity otherwise known as the NEW EARTH (Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66:22, 2 Peter 3:13, Rev 21:1) to be ruled by the New Jerusalem. The New Earth is where the nations are destroyed and massed together for a world government that will be on the shoulders of Jesus. Well, isn't the New World Order a world government as well? And gee, New Earth even sounds exactly like New World, doesn't it? That is not a coincidence, the New Earth is indeed the New World Order. It's all right there in your NEW WORLD Translation Bible if you actually bothered to read it...
