With respect, it was understood immediately by many that it was the slogan of a fascist who wanted to be "president" for life (like Putin, like Kim Jong In and his father and grandfather), and who was willing to say _anything_ to manipulate a lot of broken, susceptible people - mostly whites - who thought "their" country had failed them economically and was "letting the country become even less white". We have every child learn about the rise of fascism in great detail. We also discuss neo fascism and other related topics. We learn about the atrocities comitted and why everything fell into place the way it did. Ofcourse normal school often does not leave enough time for all that but it is still important that children are being educated about these things, rather than battles or troop movements for example. Apart from education we held open discussions about all the wrongs that were comitted so no one can plead ingorance or lie anymore. We did not allow for it to became a taboo , instead we rather made it a very important topic everyone should know about. Ofcourse these are the after war generations, alot of the peole who were part of nazigermany just pretended like stuff never happened, wich was a huge point of conflict between parents and children. Read into the 68 movement. There is a ton that we did and are still doing

@@user-jy3zl2vp4b In Germany, we teach like this. In addition to that, we have a lot of memorials and museums dedicated to teach about the victims, about the lives that were lost. If there have been statues or memorials of nazi generals, they have been removed immediately after the war. In general, teaching and learning about fascism and ww2 in Germany largely centers around the way the nazi party came into power, the destruction that followed and the innocent lives that were lost. We don't focus on battles or generals or troop movements.

A good reminder that the ‘alarmists’ weren’t motivated by political opposition but were recognizing how dangerous, historically, the rhetoric was and where it could lead if it wasn’t taken seriously. The thing about being an alarmist that people don’t seem to appreciate... the abusive name calling and labels of ‘hysteric’ are much more tolerable than their fears being validated because if they are proven to be right, that means they failed. I love that the Daily Show keeps reposting this interview and I will engage and promote it every time as I hope more people come to understand that it wasn’t about the man or his policies, but the effect and harm of dangerous rhetoric if not taken seriously. It is what allowed the absurd ideas of QAnon and Plandemic to take hold on such a large segment of the American population after all.

Although if impeached the only punishment the congress can dish out a sitting President is removal from office that’s a sitting President however it says nothing about the President if not currently sitting! So since he would be President while the impeachment is handed down if convicted after he left it appears he can then be indicted lose his Security and pension! That would mean if convicted he could be sent to Jail! Of course if he left the country before conviction it might be hard to get him extradited especially if he chose the protection of the Iranian Government! We’re not on good terms with them you know!

Timothy Snyder is a first class historian. He is also typical of our profession in that people ignore our warnings till it is too late. We spend our lifes studying and learning every detail of our subjects, to be able to recognise patterns and issue warnings so that people can learn from the past. There is just no way to face and overcome a crisis if no one can agree on what's happening or what the reality even is. There can be no common sense when there is no common reality. With the internet and social media, people are only encountering what and who they already agree with, and there is nothing to make them consider other perspectives. Snyder is right when he say's its 'about us' and how we need to be better citizens if we want to maintain our freedoms and liberties. I I have read Timothy Snyder's book "on tyranny". it is probably the clearest and the most succinct explanation of what we are going through at this period of time. If you are in the habit of reading at all you must have a copy of this for yourself I guarantee you'll be impressed.
