For the food delivery apps. I put a super low tip, and then once they deliver I add a big tip no matter what. Being that I've done delivery myself there are folks who only take high tips, and want a fast $$, and can be sloppy vs folks who have to take whatever comes batches that come in. I've never had bad service once I switched to this method.

Yup, I've had an instance where a lady was panhandling and she was asking me for change. I told her I didn't have change and she told me there was a bank nearby. I just looked at her and kept walking to catch my train. This was also in Toronto, LOOL.

Just a thought on the tipping conversation while yes the server at a restaurant is refilling drinks etc, you literally CANT do it yourself at a restaurant as for deliveries you CAN go get that yourself so it’s literally more of a service to get a delivery. And if you know about the delivery services you know. Door dash be paying like 3 dollars standard for delivery so tips are a big part of the payment “not the customers fault” but that’s just some insight on the delivery situation

I worked in different aspects of food services and now work for a food delivery service on Guam….$8 tip is way more than acceptable especially if the whole order was only $20+. I’ve delivered $100+ orders to ppl with a damn pool at their 3 story house and got NO tip. I’m grateful for a tip period! Just sayin

Doordash is fucked up on the driver side, most rides are under 3 dollars at base pay so majority of their earnings come from the person placing the order. They also don’t alway choose the driver whose closest to you to bring you your order. Some drivers go have to 15-20 minutes out of the area that they choose to deliver in, just complete an order. They aren’t compensated for the drive back to their original area. So if you’re not getting atleast a 5 dollar tip an order you lose more money than you make doing doordash. On the ordering side of doordash, the food is more expensive for delivery and they charge an outrageous amount in fees. Overall just go pick up your food people, it’s not that bad trust me. I’ve been on both sides
