After a break to walk down to Emerald Lake and visit a local model railway, we board our beautifully restored railway carriage ready to set off towards Gembrook. The route takes our train deep into the Wright Forest, climbing steadily we cross several wooden trestle bridges after which the forest begins to thin and we are treated to panoramic views over the neatly tended fields. A long row of attractive bungalows indicates we are nearing journey’s end at Gembrook where we watch the locomotive run round its train ready to return to Belgrave.
Once again I am grateful to Puffin Pete, Jeff Evans and the locomotive crew for their friendly welcome and help in making this video.

Hi John, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Puffing Billy have done a great job re-opening the line to Gembrook, the scenery for the last few miles is very different to the rest of the line, I wasn't expecting to see open farmland. I can recommend the steak and cheese pies in the bakery near the station, wish we had pies like that in the UK.

It's nice to see more of this run. And I saw where I have to cross the line to reach my relative's house when I visit them (going there very soon for an Easter visit). :) I don't think I'll have time for a trip on the railway this time around, but I hope I can some time in the future. (btw, a "lookout" is a high place for viewing the countryside while "look out" means to watch for) :)

Hi, I hope you enjoyed Part 2. The bakery near Gembrook station do a delicious steak and cheese pie with a side salad, wish I could get pie like that here in the UK. Thank you for pointing out my error regarding Lookout / Look out. Too late to correct this one, but I'll be more careful in future, looking back I've made this error before.

Os australianos cuidaram do seu campo. Melbourne, o Yarra Valley e o Dandenong Ranges, juntamente com o Puffing Billy, fizeram desta uma visita muito agradável. Australians look after their countryside. Melbourne, the Yarra Valley and the Dandenong Ranges along with Puffing Billy made this a very enjoyable visit.

Crikey Robert, from your description I was lucky to survive :-) I will get round to it, in the next few months, I got an unbelievable amount of video and photos from my trip to Oz and NZ, it will probably take a year to edit and upload it all. Riding on that train you could imagine yourself way back in the late 19th or early 20th Century riding through that countryside. Trouble is, the illusion would be shattered when a Holden Commodore ute flies past on the gravel road at the side of the track.

Hi Neil, this railway preserves a little bit of the past for us all to enjoy, everyone involved in its re-birth deserves a well earned pat on the back.

I'd love to get down there and ride on - and record on video - this train set-up, but alas I'm not in a position to do so. Though through videographers like you and others, I get to see this railway which totally dwarfs the Richmond Vale Railway Museum, which is within my reach.
@Timsvideochannel1
@Timsvideochannel1 5 жыл бұрын
@@neilforbes416 It's a shame you can't get down there, but you seem to find plenty of rail interest nearer to home with Richmond Vale, steam on the main line and the tram museum. Australia is a big place, it takes 5 hours just to fly from one side to the other.

There is enough around my own "neck of the woods" to give me content to shoot, that's true, Tim. Indeed tomorrow, Saturday 20th April 2019, I'm off up to Paterson for the Rail Motor Society's Open Day, and with that another chance to ride the legendary CPH-class "Tin Hare" rail motors. Video of this event will be up on KZbin either Sunday night or early Monday morning. One constructive way of spending the Easter weekend, ay?
