Thank you so much for documenting trial and error! Makers such as yourself that do as such do so much more spreading knowledge to everyone! 🙏

thanks man. my honest hope by making these videos, besides obviously advertising for myself, is encouraging people to TRY whatever it is they wish to try. Documenting more than 10 years of my trying here, one can really start to see the progress and development. People who are good at things aren't any different than people who are just starting out at things, except they have more practice :)

Hello Tim. I'm a guitar luthier from Russia. Your approach to making guitars has inspired me to not only repair but also make musical instruments! I also play bass). Please create a gallery on your website with photos of the instruments you have made. I really want to repeat your pallet bass, but apparently you removed it from your site. Thanks again for the content!

The pallet bass sold, but the video lives on. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6KQknuchbx0d9Esi=U3zQVgw74NwZKdkU I need to work harder at keeping my gallery up to date. thanks for the reminder. -T

121st looky-loo view about to happen... 5:58 - for what it's worth, IMHO the color of the string saddles for that bridge are a better complement to the wood body. 6:33 - personal taste - this one looks best; and the dark knobs instead of the chrome helps it all go well together. My fave of the 3. 28th LIKE.

Great work on those 5 string Bass guitar builds Tim! Having made a few Bass guitars myself, I can really appreciate the work that goes into your builds! Hope that all is well! 👍👍🎸🎸

I would be VERY interested in a multi-scale 4-string dual-pickup version of one of these basses…
@timsway5 ай бұрын
sure! contact me directly via NewPerspectivesMusic.com and we can make that happen. I do have one single pickup 4 string (34" scale) in stock, too.

Cool enhancement to what is jow a classic design. Did you widen the body at all or just the neck? I was wondering if the narrowish Lutes body would look undersized with the added string. But the proportions look pretty good here, so maybe you changed it? Nice additions to the stable, and handy to have a pro like Prince drop by for a test drive. Thanks for sharing!
@timsway6 ай бұрын
the body was widened just a tiny bit to keep it looking proportionally correct. good eye!

Tim, Do you put the radius on your fretboard with the CNC? What cutter do you use?
@timsway6 ай бұрын
yes. I radius them there with a 1/4" ballnose end mill. There is still some sanding to do, tho.

How critical it is for bass strings to align perfectly with the poles? I suspect that it's not super-important, especially with a humbucker PU.
@timsway6 ай бұрын
even with the wrong bridge and the strings not lining up , the bass still sounded and played fine, but it certainly doesn't look good!

Did you notice even the slightest unevenness in volume between strings?@@timsway
