Being an all plywood unit, I figure it's in the "budget" category. Those are the best kind of instruments to learn repair on... since you're not playing with a priceless artifact. I got a basic upright bass at the auction, and outfitted it with the synthetic gut strings... easier on the hands for rockabilly.
