I cover the lid to keep it dark to stop the green growing. The ultra bead has a one way valve to stop water getting to air blower.

Where does the dirty water go after the backwash? Do you attach a pipe to an outlet and pump it out externally or does it just flow back into the pond?

Yes but it’s an inside pond so no debris. Don’t do it on an outdoor pond
@BettySwollocks133 жыл бұрын
Seems a real faff! Why not fit a check valve between the blower and valve? Could fit a pipe to waste with a tap on top of the bead- that would stop you losing the plug and spraying water every where.

Hi lads, love the KZbin clips. I am currently waiting on my delivery of the new K1 microbead 20 and the Nexus 320+, I was planning on putting two bottom drains to the Nexus and skimmer to the microbead but I'm now now reconsidering the idea of two bottom drains idea. I really like the dimensions of your quarantine pond, what are the pond base dimensions and is that the maximum size for one bottom drain. I will be installing tpr's as I feel that they would greatly assist with water circulation. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

right just came across your video , so your feeding your bead filter straight from the bottom drain , no settlement chamber can you explain why please .
@TimWaddington Жыл бұрын
This is a Kplus advanced. It’s not like a normal bead. Why would I use a settlement chamber?
@timkirk5708 Жыл бұрын
@@TimWaddington that's what i aaked , why no settlement chamber ? Surely all solid matter enters the chamber with a high loading ? What stock load could you expect using just this method . I understand the surface area of the media , but no vortex ,seive, drum , to remove solids , i don't get ? Only asking as i still run an answer in a vortex with a bead filter .
@TimWaddington Жыл бұрын
@@timkirk5708 I run 3 ponds with very high stocking rates at the shop just on these units. The water is perfect, it’s the media. On outside systems then I would definitely put something before so debris dosent ruin the pump but the filters take care of any solids. Wait for the video this week, it’s on this very subject
@timkirk5708 Жыл бұрын
@@TimWaddington The reason i asked is I'm installing a nexus 210 gravity fed then pumped through a challenger bead , but obviously the nexus acts a settlement chamber , as my pump on the answer needs replacing and it was cheaper to get a second hand 210 & upgrade my main pump uv and separation chamber , looking forward to the next video .

Why don’t EA do flow meters on anything seeing as that’s what all of this is based on? Thanks
@TimWaddington3 жыл бұрын
A decent one is pretty expensive unfortunately.
@daletur53283 жыл бұрын
Fundamentally good design but again with EA too much trouble with cleaning. Only when they realise that high maintenance is not wanted by private pond owners will they gain ground against drum/ low maintenance setups. I love the tempest idea but too much maintenance, love the idea of beads but again too much maintenance. Pse EA learn what automation is. Good vid tho.
@nikolaucznaum43123 жыл бұрын
EA is behind the curve now, time for them to start knocking out decent combi's at a competitive price.
@TimWaddington3 жыл бұрын
I hope they don’t. I couldn’t run a drum on this system because I couldn’t get the flow. Even if I put 4 drains into the drum it would only pull from the closest line as water finds it’s easiest way. So the other 3 ponds would have a lot of debris and no pull. Then I couldn’t run a 20,000 pump as the drum couldn’t give me the flow. So I wouldn’t be able to increase the flow from the initial Nexus, if anything I’d be in the same position.
@daletur53283 жыл бұрын
@@TimWaddington As i said good design, its seems a great system but they need to sort some automation out. they took too long to come out with the nexus automation kit.

Tbh I've got a Tempest takes about a minute to do a clean. I don't understand what other maintenance is involved🤷. Also turning valves on a bead is hardly too much maintenance. Yes it's more work than a drum, but definitely less than say a multibay. I think I could do a clean on a bead, in the time it takes to drunk my morning coffee🤣.
