Hi Tim. The build is coming on well. I agree, it is easy setting up a Pump and Filtration. I did a Pond Restoration for a Gentleman who was not prepared to go down the financial rout of Concrete and Nexus so I built a DIY Filter and a DIY Skimmer for him. Best result of it is he likes the Tap that I installed for Draining the Pond for Water changes. His Pump is a 30,500LPH. So I am sure that with your professional Skills your Client will be pleased with the final result. 👍😊 Stay safe and take care.

Hey Tim What thickness was the base slab and did you re-enforce it with re-bar, also did you put the 4 inch bottom drain pipe down in a channel below the concrete base to make sure consistent thickness of the slab?

I'm taking on the challenge of building a pond (I'm down in Essex) I'm doing it all myself and I'm going. The bottom drain and nexus route after watching your videos. I haven't a clue before watching your videos and have noticed every pond is different so far no one way seems to be right or wrong. One thing I was planning was just one return via a waterfall. I notice a lot of the pond have 2,3 or even 4 returns. I hadn't really thought about this until just now. But I assume the more returns the more the water moves and the more crud we suck suck out the bottom drain???.
@TimWaddington4 жыл бұрын
Exactly, you need returns. When you are closer let me know and we will run through it

@@TimWaddington And to pretty much every other koi keeper in the UK it seems. Seriously, you should promote more variety. Cuboids with windows dominate. I know people like to copy each other, especially in urban areas, but you should surely be suggesting more creative approaches and a return to more natural designs in keeping with the hobby's roots. Koi are frequently associated with art after all...

H 8 the pond is nothing to do with me, most are fully down to what the owner wants. We just make sure it is correctly filtered and works. We have just started an in ground pond which is underway, which was our design
@deejaysmi14694 жыл бұрын
It's not lack of imagination, as you say most koi keepers in the UK live in urban areas and so will have very small rectangular gardens. The best fit and bang for your buck is the cuboid. Windows are fashionable and easier to fit in a rectangular pond. Of course there are lots of exceptions and my pond is one of them - in plan a tear drop shape. Personally I find it very interesting to see how the hobby has developed differently in different countries.
@user-nw6wl7py8k4 жыл бұрын
@@deejaysmi1469 Seems to me there is a lot more imagination abroad. The UK seems fixated on the cuboid with window no matter how much available space there is. In fact some of the nicest ponds on youtube tend to be older ones before the obsession kicked in.

Why are you not using sweep bends in the pipework?
@TimWaddington4 жыл бұрын
Because there is absolutely no need.
@yanbbrox4 жыл бұрын
@@TimWaddington Interesting reply, I find it difficult to understand your reasoning for that, but you have a pond business and I don't so we will leave it at that, thanks for the reply.
@TimWaddington4 жыл бұрын
Yanbbrox a filter system can only take so much water. Varipumps can be adjusted. There’s no way we would ever restrict that much water by using 90’s instead of swept bends.

Gravity fed filtration is the way to go, if you've installed a bottom drain, you'll be glad you did & if you haven't, you'll wish you had.😉
