For anyone watching this and trying to get the diverter valve out/new one in I recommend quarter inch ratchet with a 3" extension , 5mm Allen bit on the end. That's skinny enough to be able to maneuver things easily, and get the ratchet head square to the bolts. I found myself in all sorts of interesting positions, but I got to the two bottom most bolts with my feet pointing towards the front of the car and my head close to right underneath the valve. Top most bolt is most easily tackled from outside the wheel well area. Takes some gymnastics if you're just on jack stands but you should be able to get to it from that side. Prepare yourself for some frustration.

I don’t suppose you have any tips for replacing the N249 valve? It’s the boost control solenoid valve I believe. Sits at the top of the turbo but looks really awkward to get to so I’m just looking for some tips? I’ve got an Audi TT MK2 2006 with the 2.0 FSI engine

Does the torque of the hex bolts matter? or just hand tighten the hell out of it?
@TimWilliamsHD6 жыл бұрын
torque does matter always Mark, id go just a bit more than pinch tight because it is plastic after all..

good job but I booked mine in tomorrow to change it to the piston type with tuningwreks in Croydon. I've lost some boost and there is a hiss coming from the front as I floor the 1.8tfsi. no engine management lights are on.

As executed...they're a serviceable part to be honest, I'd check it at every service due to the durability of the rubber..when I had my 2.0tfsi I was thinking to buy a GFB one cos they have better reviews then the original 2 Audi types of diverter valve! Thanks for watching! Please subscribe.. TW
