This is the best PCV valve replacement explanation ever

Hi Pro Tips Plus, I replaced my new oil separator pcv on my Audi Q5 2014, as you described in video. I checked carefully all screws fixed exact and correctly. after I turned on my car I found misfire and EPV light on and engine is shaking hardly, I checked on OBD Codes, there are five fault cods, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304. where am I wrong. my car was working good and I never see these fault codes before. Thank you for your help!

Check and make sure your coil connections to the wire harness are seated properly. Sometimes the clip doesn't snap in if your not careful.
@nighthawkviper6791Ай бұрын
Maybe you need new plugs and Ignition coils, but you likely didn't snap them into place correctly or forgot to replug in the exhaust lift actuators.

Help please! Would you happen to know what the part number is to that piece you were wiping down at 7:05? It's the elbow + pipe pieces. I had to disassemble everything to walnut blast my intake valves and seemed to have lost them.

Did some checking, and it seems that the valve in the video has been replaced/upgraded with a newer version that does not have the same connection. See 10:35. The upgraded part is in the video description. I hope that helps.

how does coolant get into the crankcase vent valve on an audi quattro?
@protipsplus10 ай бұрын
Coolant should not be mixing with engine oil. This indicates a larger problem.

Amazing video. Mine started whistling just yesterday so I've been hunting for cause and this seems to be it. I'll confirm with finger and cap test today. I've seen some others recommend additional replacements while you already have the PCV removal including water pump, thermostat, breather tube. Would recommend doing these while in there?
@darthemphatic46546 ай бұрын
Realized this is for a turbo 2.0 and not supercharged 3.0 once I actually compared the engine, lol
@protipsplus6 ай бұрын
I would only replace the PCV/oil separator.

Any videos of replacing the valve cover gasket
@protipsplus8 ай бұрын
Assuming you just replaced the PCV valve, you've likely eliminated the condition that was causing the valve covers to leak. Try tightening the valve cover bolts until snug. Don't over tighten. Then spray the areas beneath the covers with degreaser and monitor for a few weeks to see if the leaks continue. Let me know how it goes. In the meantime, I'll see if I can source a valve cover video. If so, I'll add it to my Audi Q5 playlist. Great question.
@horaciosolis27648 ай бұрын
@@protipsplus yes i already have done that and still leaking from valve cover a 22 q5 with only 32k miles just wanted to get an idea before i start tearing it apart since there’s no actual gasket it’s just gasket maker they use for the cover

@horaciosolis2764 I didn't find a video. Most related videos mention the need to remove the timing chain. I don't recommend DIY timing chain repairs.

Would this also cause a sputter at acceleration or rough start?
@protipsplus10 ай бұрын
Yes, a faulty PCV will cause the fuel mixture to be too rich. The baseline RPM at idle will be too high. This negatively impacts starts and excelleration.

Hi, I replaced my pcv 3 weeks ago (oem part) and now it has strong suction when I open oil cap when engine running, you said in the video that this is a sign of bad pcv, mine is brand new and is sucking,, can you reply please, cheers

Can you provide CEL code? Thanks

Would this be a reason for the” low oil pressure switch off engine “ to come on When you are bring the car to a stop at lights ( and goes away again when you bring the revs up,past 1200 RPM ) ?? This is happening mostly after driving over 10 miles
@protipsplus8 ай бұрын
Faulty oil pressure sensors or damaged oil pumps can cause code P0522 to be set. Avoid driving the car as it may overheat due to poor lubrication and disbursement of heat .
@tomedian7 ай бұрын
would a failed PCV also account for a crankcase oil smell under the hood?
@protipsplus7 ай бұрын
Yes, but rewatch the video while paying extra attention to the "typical symptoms of a faulty valve/cover." The whistling noise is the most obvious symptom. Great question. Subscribe and share.

Can this valve/seal being bad cause the car to lose oil?
@protipsplus10 ай бұрын
Yes, that is one of the primary symptoms.

No code and no air leak from the hole. But when removing oil cap does feel suction . Do I need to replace pcv?
@protipsplus7 ай бұрын
Because you have an integrated oil separator, you will have a minimal amount of suction at the fill cap. This is normal.
@leo33257 ай бұрын
@@protipsplus the suction is actually a bit stronger than what I expected. It certainly confuses me. When did your q5 act up? My 2015 q5 has 70k miles. Anyway, you made a great tutorial video

In your opinion is it better that I replace the PCV valve with an Audi part or would it be safe to just get the part from Amazon like the one you posted ?
@protipsplus11 ай бұрын
An Audi part will come with a warranty, and that adds to the price. I tend to go with the highest quality aftermarket part. Audi and other high-performance vehicles tend to require more maintenance and more frequent replacement of air intake related parts. I hope this helps.
