I had a store employee in Knoxville Tennessee put me onto this bottle. Didn’t realize it was an MPG product. But WTF a 10 yr MGP product at 50$. So I filled my swimming pool up with it, and now swim and drink at the same time.

@G C was just visiting for wedding anniversary, from Lexington Ky. Christy’s in Knoxville is a great place for all kinds of good liquor. Do like visiting Tennessee, some great places to get away. I’m an MPG chaser , so anything that comes from MGP is my thing. Scotch I’m just learning and tasting a few. Watch a lot of KZbin videos and have bought some Springbank, compass box arran, tamdhu.

The NOSE is fantastic. But, it a bit thin on the mouthfeel, but it has that high rye, black pepper, and oak bite which is surprising for the low proof. Admittedly, it has a really long finish, which is a bit dry...but LONG. To my palate it just doesn't have the rich density I'm looking for ...for an 8.6. I'd prefer buttery, sweet, rich, to the rye, black pepper, and oak bite. The black pepper is so intense, it almost comes off as hot...which is obviously weird for 84 proofer. I'd put it in the category of a really good 4 Roses Single Barrel.

I saw pallets of Tin Cup at Stranahan's in CO but didn't try the 3 yr until an event in VA. They gave me a lot of Tin Cup swag but put it away because the 3 yr was nothing special. Thanks for the 10 yr recommendation. I'm wearing the swag again because it's a regular in my bar now. Great video!

They are both 10 year MGP Bourbon. They just updated their branding to say bourbon from what I can tell

So I watched this and was appalled at how he abused this bourbon . I thought I was watching a man shake a baby . So I decided to adopt a bottle and try it for myself . I found it on sale for $34.99, swaddled it in a brown bag and brought it home . It didn't blow me away , but punches above it's 84 proof . I think it's strongest suit is the finish that hangs around for a good long time . I think it's worth a try at $35 , but not at $54 .

Usually you and I are sympatico Matt. On this one, not so much. Uh, not...at...all. I found it watery, lacking complexity on the nose and palette and simply disappointing. I'd take OF 86 head to head, and it's half the price. You're still loved though. ;) EDIT: I stand corrected!!! I head to headed the OF and Tin Cup is clearly better. I think I'm so habituated to high proof that I missed it's strengths. Please accept my mea culpa! :)
