Classic song ! .. One of my very faves from the wonderful Small Faces .. Has to be one of the best instrumental build ups at the start of a song ever .. And the vocal performance by Steve Marriott is simply epic .. Great request, Karen !

My brother and I had the pleasure of attending an “interview” featuring Ian Maclagen at the Grammy Museum, in downtown Los Angeles, a few years back. He stated that his 3 favorite Small Faces tracks were: “All or Nothing”, “Afterglow”, and this song “Tin Soldier”. All three of these tunes blow the top of my head off. Not many groups have three songs, that are this potent.

Great song to request Karen, Its great that we are getting more requests for '60's and '70's music again since the last few months requests were mostly '90's and early 2000's music. I got this song confused with the song "One Tin Soldier" from like 1971 but I forget that band's name.

The Small Faces evolved into Faces when Steve Marriott left and Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood took his place. Great band! Great pick Karen! Ian MacLagen went on to marry Keith Moons ex wife. Kenney Jones replaced Moon in The Who after he died. Ronnie Lane went solo, did a phenomenal album with Pete Townsend called Rough Mix and eventually contacted MS and died. That's a lot of Who connections! For the ten thousandth time, Steve Marriott and Grand Funk's Mark Farner are the two best rock singers that ever walked this planet.

Wow... I don't ever remember hearing this... I thought it was gonna be the song. "One Tin Soldier" Both are great anyways... Edit: The Original Caste did first version if One Tin Soldier but the popular radio version was the one done for the soundtrack to Billy Jack.
