Legendary rock photographer Bob Gruen took this footage. He started his career as Ike & Tina Turner's personal photographer. Speaking about them, he said: "They really appeared to love each other, they really were close to each other. It is certainly not your traditional marriage situation. They didn't really live together much. Ike would spend most of his time in the studio recording, while Tina was pretty much staying at the house and raising the children. But they were a great working couple, they had a lot of good times together. However, I think that when you get too deeply involved in drugs, when you don't sleep for a couple of weeks, you turn into a very dangerous person. That's what happened with Ike. But before that, they had a lot of good times and that's what we show in our video."

Tina has said in her book and interviews that she was the maid and you can see it here--cooking, babysitting, cleaning. And, she always dressed well even at home. One thing I like about this video is it shows Tina was always busy and not a lazy person. I noticed how she talked about food and that she read information from a book. She has a higher consciousness.

@Allsmoke 23 Two of those boys weren't hers and they had their own mothers who could've taken care of them. And, fathers can be home shouldering the cleaning, cooking, babysitting as well. A marriage is a partnership. And, no it wasn't her house otherwise she would've been able to get half of it without threat of physical violence. She took the name "Tina" that Ike forced onto her and built something with it that Ike never could have even imagined for herself. Good for her!

@@julianczer939 Those two boys share the same biological mother, Lorraine Taylor, who is now deceased. Tina adopted them and considered them her own. They were raised knowing Tina as a mother not Lorraine. You don't adopt children then decide they aren't yours anymore. Tina was not a maid. She had hired help who took care of the house and her children when she was away. She cooked and cleaned like most mothers when she was home, but she was a strict disciplinarian according to her sons. They had chores and Tina said she hit her sons. After the studio complex Bolic Sound was built, Ike spent most of his time living there. Tina said she found serenity and happiness with her children at home, so it's sad that she's no longer close with her sons. She wanted the stage name that was forced on to her because it was profitable and marketable, but she also kept Ike's surname as her legal last name for decades after their separation.

@wgtow Ike moved Tina and her son Craig into his home when she was a struggling teen mom. Where was Raymond Hill when Ike adopted his son and gave him his own surname? Ike expressed regret for not spending more quality time with his sons during their childhood, but he provided for his family and took care of a lot of other people.

@@brittanymiitchell8491 Slaves don't drive luxury cars and shop lavishly. Slaves don't have the option to socialize and travel the world. Slaves don't have the right to leave relationships. Tina was not a slave. She chose to stay with Ike. She said she had a mind of her own. When she was tired of that lifestyle she left. But as long as you're living and you have children, you're always a parent whether your children are 6 or 60. Tina is still hurt about her mother abandoning her and she is in her 80s. Tina has three living sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she doesn't have relationships with.

@roslynq7477 3 жыл бұрын
@@Butterfly22593 Thankfully I haven't had to experience that kind of relationship, but Tina said herself that she left Ike with her sons, but she chose to return to him on her own. Ike also said Tina would threaten to leave and initiate fights. She wasn't a passive woman being used as a punching bag. The battered wife narrative she sells is only partial true. Tina deserved more out of their divorce, but keep in mind she never mentioned any abuse, which would've helped her case. Ike said in his book that he had bought Tina a gun after their home was burglarized. Tina shot Michael Jackson's brother Randy Jackson when he broke into her home to see his girlfriend Bernadette Robi in the 1980s. Tina could've shot Ike or reported him to the authorities if she felt her life was in danger. Tina never started talking about abuse until the 1980s when she revamped her image. It garnered her sympathy. She loves playing the victim and she's still resentful towards Ike. Maybe that's why she hasn't had a peace of mind despite her attempts at selling happiness.

Tina did every thing! She worked hard on the stage, before she got on stage, and after she was on the stage plus on top of that she dealt with Ike hitting her, being with other females, and being high and out of it to her. She really didn't get a break until later in her life in Switzerland. I'm glad she can rest now.

Ike should've been a better husband, he admitted that but Tina was hitting him too. Some people even claim that Tina was the aggressor. Watch any video of Judge Joe Brown talking about her. He said he witnessed Tina curse Ike out and hit him in public unprovoked. Some other people have also said she had an attitude and was cold towards her sons after she moved to Europe. Ike had good attributes but people only focus on the negative due to a biased view of him from a resentful ex-wife. Imagine if everyone was judged by how their former spouse viewed them. She knew he was a womanizer before they became involved. She thought he would change for her. When they divorced she became bitter when she didn't get the alimony and property she wanted.

It usually difficult for old people to change their ways, but I think she would benefit from therapy. She has tried to suppress feelings but they've manifested into her dreams. Tina even said she has thought about Ike a lot in recent years. Buddhism is an isolating religion. It gave her mental strength and a purpose but it doesn't seem to help with interpersonal relationships. I've heard she is cold and distant from her sons. @@chezjusa7392 Tina traveled the world by the time this video was recorded. Traveling and exposing yourself to different cultures is important, but her accent didn't change until her hair become progressively lighter and her entourage progressively whiter. Have you seen footage from her wedding? Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King and her son Craig were the only black people there. She is estranged from her own family.

@trevorzilno2686
@trevorzilno2686 3 жыл бұрын
@@nenej12 That isn't the issue. She began to crossover while she was with Ike. Tina lost her authenticity. Her accent changed and her music became watered down. She lost her soul in the effort to conform. She is now living in Europe and doesn't communicate with her American family. In this video she was natural and in her element as a mother. Her sons and grandkids weren't even at her wedding. The exception was Craig who committed suicide a few years ago.

@@jakephillips4453 She sure does and the public has a the right to chime in and comment, especially when part of her brand is being an open book. She did wear wigs as a bold soul sister and they looked great! I don't have to paint Tina as a tormented person, she victimizes herself enough. Your assessment applies to you as well. You are bothered that my opinion of Tina differs from your. Weird. You can't control my opinion.

@@jakephillips4453 Tina's son Ike Junior gave an interview a few years ago. He said Tina is disconnected. Little Richard said the same thing. Darlene Love also said Tina changed and snubbed her.
