My 12 year old self had the great honor, luck and pleasure to see Tina belt out Proud Mary in front of 40,000 people at Shea Stadium - in 1970 with Ike and the Ikette’s! For a pubescent pre-teen watching her shimmy across the floor like water in a red hot frying pan was the most amazing thing I’d ever seen. I’ve loved her from that moment on and followed her career in every tour and some 15 live performances in 4 countries ever since. Tina is a national treasure... and ohhhh man those legs.

It's a shame the artists coming up now don't follow her lead. The "singing" they attempt today is a travesty. I have always loved her...not only for her voice, but for her ability to overcome all that she endured in her life. There is a special place in Hell for people like Ike Turner. I have nothing but complete respect for her. Even to this day she doesn't bad-mouth him her even really acknowledge anything that spewed from his mouth about her. And the best part is she found her true love, her soul mate. What more could one ask for?

I first heard the version from Missy. I few hours a go I heard the original and thought to my self wow the way she sings the word pain is unique and very beautiful. Tina's version here was recommended by KZbin and the way she belts out the word rain..amazing, it shook me. Missy's version has its merit but in no way superior to the original. Tina's Energy and range is exceptional.

"I Can't Stand the Rain" was originally recorded by Ann Peebles on the same record label as Al Green. It's great, as is this far more fiery live performance by Tina. I tended to like Tina's original material better than the remakes on her solo albums ("Missing You", "Unfinished Sympathy", etc.) She did a track with Sting that is my second favorite track of hers (my all-time #1 being "What's Love...") The track I am referring to is "On Silent Wings". Check it out, it's so gorgeous and moving it will take your breath away. The album "My Wildest Dreams" (I think that was the title) had several wonderful tracks, including a good one with Barry White and a very good version of a Pet Shop Boys tune called "Confidential".

Yes! Live music, live singing, no autotune! Very few, probably could count them on one hand, could sing live without missing a note. It is said that Tina never missed a note. Tina always sang live, no lip sync. Gosh, I miss seeing her in concert, thank goodness and Tina for all the videos here. I could name some that can't even hit one note live. The music being put out today is crap. It's okay with the recording and auto tune. But if they are asked to sing live, no lip sync, they are not capable. There are many artists from the Era before autotune that sound exactly the same live as they did on the recorded version. Music will never be the same.
