The first live concert my daughter went to was Tina Turner. She and I went together and had a blast! It was the last day of graduate school for me and she went to class with me and we left and went to the concert. She was 14. She’s now 40. ❤🌹🙏🏽🍷

Tina Turner embodies all things female to me. She has “arrived” intact after so many difficulties and she is a fascinating finished product of having survived travel on a very rough road. She is talented beyond belief. She is beautiful. She exudes female sexiness. And, as others have mentioned, I so regret never having seen her in person. What an entertainer 💝👌

Nice! Confident woman. Tina should have been a motivational speaker.. when I am low I listen to her and she literally lifts me up, her story and her words alone. And Tina you are very correct. There is something so magical about being a little black girl who comes from picking cotton and lived with a big bad wolf who didn't give a damn whether you lived or died, & kissing many frogs along the way. Yet you ended up in France and Switzerland with a German Prince that loves you so much he'll give you a kidney. Anything is Possible people

I don't know why Tina speaks of Ike with such respect after the way he treated her, like what he made her do with the microphone ( simulate oral sex with it ) during their song " I'm forever loving you ". DEGRADATION & HUMILIATION in front of a live audience I would say. I watched one of the clips and couldn't believe it. The footage of Ike showed he was clearly getting a kick out of it too... Tina said he made her do it - or else she would cop a beating afterwards which is totally believable because he did beat her when not happy when she didn't " perform " how he liked.

Tina is a great example of quid pro quo she gave up 18 years to Ike in order to be a star just too bad they weren't living by the rooms of the 2000s where they could just say what they were a platonic team, not husband and wife, and still be Stars

Tina wasn't being totally honest about not liking Ike or wanting to be with him. In Elaine Brown's book A Taste of Power she mentioned a show Ike and Tina did for the Panthers where a near riot broke out and Ike was hit in the head with something and was knocked out with his head bleeding. Elaine said Tina was crying and cradling Ike's head in her lap. Tina cared about Ike, but I think she felt embarrassed for that because he was abusive.

@joewhoa1759 Elaine didn't write a book about Tina. Her book was about her life as a Black Panther. Why would she lie about something that happened at a public event? She even gave a background story about it starting after Ike and Tina refused to perform without getting the rest of their money that they were owed. They were owed a small amount, which I think was like $250 and that's when the riot broke out.
