When she described the process of going through the darkness and coming out into the light, it put me in mind of the process of birth! Because a baby when it's being born (or reborn) is in darkness until the moment it begins the movement into it's mother's birth canal and finally coming through "the tunnel" into the light! We experience this spiritually as well! And in Tina's case, Ike was the darkness, while Erwin was the light!

I attended a concert by TINA TURNER about forty years ago and since that evening I have never forgotten her: she possessed a black VOICE of rare beauty: powerful in any tonality: from very bluesy low timbres to ever higher notes starting from the his SOUL and climbed up UNTIL HEAVEN. Tina was an "enchanting" stage ANIMAL: she possessed charm, beauty and physique "to spare". Observing TINA, it was clear that for HER singing was PURE FUN, therefore, thanks to HER NATURAL STRENGTH, she was able to "infect" every person in the audience from the very first song. Just for the record, it should be NOTED that SHE has always had a lot of taste in selecting EXCELLENT MUSICIANS and GOOD BACKING VOICERS to take with her on tour, especially in the '70s and '80s. I saw Tina in concert in Nashville in 1991. She had so much ENERGY. After i saw her movie about her life. It was so inspirational, and life changing for me. I started chanting "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo" and by reciting this chant morning and evening a change came over me. 😢 My life has totally changed. I relocated to Nashville TN, and i am living my best life. By learning from her story, and listening to her chant the Lotus Sutra, life has become so much BETTER for me. I live in a small apartment, which is rent controlled. My health has improved. I have lost weight by chanting, instead of overeating. My last obstacle is to quit smoking. Namaste to all. One Love.☯️

Of all the videos you have ever made, I truly think that with this one she would be the happiest. My personal "mantra" has always been "I just want to know the truth." With history...spirituality...all of it, and Nichiren said that even chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo just once, would basically resonate throughout the universe and your life. It did for me 20 years ago and still does. I have my gohonzon and butsudan downstairs and I think it's time to start polishing life's mirror once again. Being able to see yourself and understand that you are worthy of love and to be treated with respect. Ike Turner was a monster and a savage. He was always abusive and wicked. A broken rib, nose, and jawbone is definitely traumatic. It's only a brave woman could have overcome that kind of abusive experience and moved forward with her life and dignity. She changed the narrative of her life story. She was simply the best.

This was beautiful and well put together. It really helped me to understand even more why she chanted and why she was led to Buddhism. She mentioned that as she chanted that she also kept the Lord’s Prayer near by so it sounds like she claimed both faiths at times. Then she said that she converted from Baptist to Buddhism, whatever the case I just pray that she is in a place of wonderful and beautiful peace as we continue to mourn her here on Earth. Prayers go out to her family and especially to her husband Erwin Bach who was with her for almost 40 years. There will never ever be another Tina Turner.
