@@Elly3981 there are satanic images all over the video. What does that baphomet dancing behold the curtain at 2 minutes have to do with stripping?
@fredwerza3478 Жыл бұрын
I spent a lot of time in strip clubs as a younger man and this song definitely reflects the vibe I saw --- women who were using their bodies to make money, but their eyes had the "1000 Yard Stare" --- they had no enjoyment in their work and you can't blame them --- wearing a thong and grinding on old ugly men and feeling them getting aroused beneath you, that is just sad and disgusting way of paying the bills for a dignified young lady!
@Elly3981 Жыл бұрын
@@fredwerza3478 You can't blame dancers or escorts for doing what they need to pay the bills if they have no other skills. I think that dancing is a good way to pay your way through college but don't get stuck in it for too long.

Part of the truth that the song was written by Mark Knopfer. Obviously "her" best song because Dire Straits means quality in music.

This video proves how pop stars were built in the 80s. Tons of personality and talent. Pairing Tina’s rough wailing sound with a glam rock backing is a winning formula.
@Vimana3 жыл бұрын
I like your comment but the "glam rock backing" isn't quite right. Most of it was played by the rock band Dire Straits. Their guitar player and singer Mark Knopfler had written the song before. Dire Straits made different kinds of songs. Some of it was blues inspired, which used to be a very common influence on rock bands, but they had many other styles mixed in. They could also do some very sophisticated rock songs. That's how this song sounds as well. Some call those kinds of songs AOR (adult-oriented rock) but in the genre of rock there can be countless of different styles mixed in anyway. Well, sometimes the styles and the genres are very hard to pinpoint exactly and it's quite pointless. What I know is that it's music and it's good. :-) Rock music should be able to express freedom. We could be free of endless categorizations and be free to just enjoy the music. Take care and have a great weekend.

It's a Mark Knopfler song, and I think Mark Knopfler would have definitely done more than "not much" with it (he's one of those musicians whose not-hit songs are equally as good as the hits); but I agree that coupled with Tina Turner's voice it became something else entirely. :-)
