THE HARDEST DECISION + Cameron Takes The Reins

The hardest thing about Vlogging is that you share the lows and bad times as well as the highs and good times. Sadly last week we had to make a very difficult decision and said the hardest goodbye to our dear Blue Boy 😢
It’s no surprise that i didnt feel like riding/training afterwards as I felt tearful, sad and weak, so Cameron very kindly took the reins and gave Banksy a good workout both on the flat and over some fences.
It was a pleasure to watch them together and really did make me smile and made me feel a very proud Mummy.
I wasn’t going to vlog but was finding it super educational so borrowed Ems camera and between us we managed to capture what Cameron was working on and oh my goodness were they fabulous together 🥰

Just remember you gave him the most amazing life, and that awful to make decision means that he didn’t have to suffer or live in pain. I barely knew Blue Dog and what I did know of him was virtual, but even I feel very sad, so no doubt, your entire household is absolutely heartbroken right now. He was just gorgeous and so so sweet. I take solace knowing that he's had the best of everything for his whole life and that he was so well loved by Winston, Rob and you and likely others. Just because you get emotional doesn't mean you aren't strong. You are so strong and I have no doubt that you offered Rob and Winston the kindest, best support. I’m late to watching this but thought I’d share a lovely story about losing a dog that I read many years ago and etched itself into my memory. There was a boy who had a doggo best friend. They did everything together but the dog was old and one day got sick. The vet had to be called out and a decision was made to put the dog down. The parents along with the vet talked about how unfair it was that dogs lived so much shorter than humans and they could never understand why this was the case. The boy surprised them all by saying he knew why it was this way. Then he said “We are put on this earth to learn how to be good. But dogs were already good so they don’t have to stay as long as we do” It was a story I will always remember.

We’re all human. I lost my lurcher boy almost 4 years to the day and it’s nearly 3 years since saying goodbye to my big mare at 26 and even after all this time I’m dreading it because I still find it so hard to relate to the fact that I’ll never hack her again or never have a new story about her antics - there were many. My point is, we all go through human emotions and we all loose loved ones. Never feel guilty for discussing or feeling upset. We all know and understand. My condolences & big cyber hugs to Rob, Winston & yourself for Blue ❤❤❤ I really feel for you all as I was worried I was going to be doing the same last Thursday when my 15yr old kitty cat hobbled in the door with a totally broken leg (thankfully not car related & he was able to have the surgery, so he is now home with the next 8 weeks on 100% cage/crate rest). I was an emotional wreck (it didn't help that my other cat kept looking & calling for her brother- that near on broke my heart), so I know where you are coming from & you have my deepest sympathies. I don't know if it will help you or anyone else reading this in the future, but the best advice I was ever given by a vet when I had a very sick horse was along the lines of 'It is never too early to say goodbye when you know the decision is imminent, but the timing is unsure- I know many people who wish they had made the decision sooner, but not a one who on reflection wishes they had waited longer.'

Feeling your pain, had to make the same decision for my boy last Sept and I know there's a huge 'blue boy' sized hole in your life right now. I found keeping busy helped, glad you have your other fur babies who will give you cuddles 💕

Tina, I cried for you at the start of the vlog and again at the end. I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing family members, whether human or furry, is incredibly difficult. It’s normal to grieve, and how you grieve will change constantly. It’s a really crappy situation, but I’ve no doubt that you and Rob would have made the kindest decision for Blue and that he had a wonderful life with your family.
