Agreed. Also, people misuse these sites. A very large number of the women's profiles that do exist on most dating sites are fakes or bots. The sites themselves set up bots that send encouraging replies to the men, in order to lure them into buying packages that include unlimited messaging and access to additional information about the people they "swipe right" on. And another block of fake profiles are set up by guys who want to mess with other guys, or who want to mess with bi and lesbian women, by catfishing them. The REAL proportion of real men to real women on most dating sites is more like 90% men, in most cases. And 85% of the men's profiles are ONLY looking for casual sex. That's how men are wired, which is why, when they don't know how (or lack the skills) to get casual sex, they tend to blame it on a conspiracy against them or some such ridiculous thing.

I think the male loneliness thing is just people finally admitting that young men (at least in the US) are often raised with a very detrimental image of masculinity to strive for which often includes hiding your vulnerabilities from others. The image has always been something along the lines of "girls bond through their feelings while boys bond through activities." Adding that to how the pandemic changed the way we socialized for a while and you get a group of young men isolated from their main method of bonding. What used to be a group of college guys hanging out irl and goofing around to pass the time is now a string of loosely connected people that sit inside and have to deal with their feelings without their previous coping mechanisms because they were never taught that it's okay to text your bros about your emotional troubles and recieve sincere, heartfelt responses. And when you mix in dating apps it's even worse lmao. Those guys are now desperate for connection and acknowledgment so any form of rejection is suddenly deeply personal and painful and, as we learned from the incel community, people that view society as naturally antagonistic are more likely to look for things that reinforce that belief. If people want to believe in the male loneliness epidemic, they should be honest with themselves and admit that it primarily stems from how we socialize those boys and what examples we set for them

That then leads to many dismissing the entire thing based off the ones who try to explain it. And this has been on each and every dating app I’ve been on. I really wanted to give Bumble an honest chance because it seemed a bit more serious and women have to initiate contact after a match. Same thing happened where there TOO many likes, but what made me actually stop with the dating apps, was that some of these men made multiple profiles to like me😂. I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I didn't watch the mukbang video is that I find these videos a bit disgusting. I think that the attraction of watching someone eat things most people wouldn't consider eating is a fetish thing, as are many of the things labeled "strangely satisfying" on the net right now. I say this as a Psychotherapist: He may have borderline, or, another impulse control or (more likely) personality disorder. The late to reply one is unfortunately consistent with some clients of BPD I have, it essentially is the BPD relationship cycle in a bit of a fast manner. People with BPD begin to focus, idealize (often silently) and being to make moves to get your attention, to give you attention, and idealize. Then, they get very scared at a late reply to a message, this is the fear of abandonment/social anxiety element, next, they may begin doing small things (or unfortunately, in his case, big things) to push you away. I think it's just a rapid cycle; of course- this is just a thought, to make a more thorough statement or such, you need to talk to him as a therapist, assume a bird's eye view of their relationships (from their viewpoint)

I've never heard of Lewis Capaldi until now, but I think he's really cute, if I met him as a stranger and he asked for my number I'd give it to him. I hope he finds true love! Online dating scares me, I'd rather meet someone through friends. Do you think the internet is the cause of lonely men to begin with? Honestly, a lot of the LGBT/trans dating apps are either fetish-y, really vacant, or mostly T4T (which is not everyone's preference). Tinder is easy to figure out and use, has a lot of Identity labels, and is the most common dating app, too. It would be the ideal dating app if they fixed the issue that he talked about at the end of the video. However another huge part of the problem with Tinder comes from the fact that instead of just unmatching from someone, a lot of cis people just report the person for being trans-feeling like they got betrayed by them or catfished by them. It's very stupid. I found my longtime boyfriend on there though (as a trans man), so I just say I'm lucky tbh🤷🏽‍♀️ haha

Congratulations on finding a boyfriend there! That's a shame those other apps aren't satisfactory for a lot of people. I hope Tinder fixes the problem, It doesn't seem like it would be difficult. I agree with you about the people reporting trans people instead of just "changing the channel", we're all adults here. No harm no foul is how I like to think of it.

It’s used in British slang to basically call someone ugly. “No way I’d date her/him she’s/he’s a total munter”. It might come from Afrikaans meaning a racist slur tho… Also we say “I was totally munted” if we’ve been out and got hammered(drunk)

@@creaturehands Considering the treatment they get online, a lot of trans people probably choose to cut out social media from their lives for the sake of their mental health. So you end up with the ones who stay online being the reactive ones, which are the ones we see more of. Social media doesn't always reflect reality. Case in point one of the most popular TV shows in recent years is Yellowstone, but that show rarely gets talked about on social media simply because many of the viewers don't use social media at all.

@@stellasakura1757 that is a fair way of thinking about it! As a trans person online, I think it's a personality thing too tbh. I'm online and around and pretty open about my identity, but I'm not like those people at all. I think a lot of trans people that live in a bubble or don't really have a great support system (or know a lot of well adjusted elder LGBT people in their lives) also tend to be the ones that end up causing issues and being reactive. It's very interesting to witness both in the community and afar when watching different media. The worst tend to be the loudest, as they say !
