GAN 15 Review - I'm Actually Shocked

Honestly, I’m excited for the approach GAN is taking now. They noticed they had too many features and removed them to make it lighter. I’m looking forward to the GAN 16 or even 17. I’ll 100% be buying the 15.

I'm still breaking the cube in, and I can see it having a lot of potential. Out of the box, mine was scratchy and unlike the previous flagship models, I have the XS - 14 Pro and the 15's magnetic strength definitely felt weaker and kinda "squishy" feeling in my hand as in stable, but moves around easily. I switched to the green magnet rods and the length of the magnet itself more resembles the angle of the 12, so that's where other people are saying it feels like the 12, however, the overall strength is still not as strong. That aside, as an experiment for those who are curious, the GAN 14 Maglev Pro edge pieces DO fit in the GAN 15 Maglev, so if you want to put edge repelling magnets, you can make an easy mod for the 15. As I said earlier, my 15 is still breaking in and currently feels less scratchy and smooth. The metal tool for adjustments are gone, and now we are just using the GAN fire hydrant.

The reason why the square center pieces are only as a bonus for the first batch and that the wingless centers are the ones now installed as default, is because they are not completely functional and can break pieces and causes a lot of catching. The square centers were going to be the default center pieces, but if you have the square centers installed and try to put an edge in, there is a risk of damaging and breaking the edge. My main is a Dayan Guhong Pro, with all of 5 adjustment settings, so the Gan 14 has about 1291 more than I need. I'm glad to see the 15 being more reasonable again.

My honest opinion of the gan 15, i love the box, i like the cap tensioning blue thing, and the firehydrant. I love the weight, my old 11 m pro was like 70 grams or something. I don't like how there isn't adjustable magnets but you can change the corner magnets. And I like the gan 356 xs adjustable system better the the gan 15, i like that it aligns with very little power. Also, I also thought the gan 11 m pro was the BEST factory out of the box. I like the square on the bottom of the caps system I think it's very good because it doesn't feel worpy. I also like the price because my mum hates me getting cubes that are expensive but I think it'll be alright for me to get one 😂. I like the 15 I'll think about getting one because it's a very nice cube. Good review by the way. Also tingman if you saw this tell me if it's worth getting the 15 m pro after the 11 m pro

I skipped the 13 and 14, partly because of price and partly because I found the X-man cubes more than good enough for me. Now, for the first time in a while I’m tempted to buy another non-Bluetooth Gan (the iCarry2 is my go to Bluetooth-it doesn’t have a device to detect rotation, but since I Roux that is irrelevant). I still cube on my GAN 11 Duo (I'm not doing any competitions) and see the benefits of alignment improving with a 12, 13, 14, but this 15 feels like a more refined replacement of my 11 Duo for some reason. Not the crazy adjustment functions as found in the 12, 13, 14, or even the 11 M Pro, but better magnet structures with minimal adjustment which for me sounds very appealing.

Yes to the GAN model comparison. This model actually got my attention from the point of maybe GAN are rethinking their pricing strategies and considering what is necessary to make a cube that people are happy to use. I haven't considered purchasing a GAN since the 11M Duo.

That's interesting isn't it @ 7:32 I guess they found the ideal weight to magnet strength ratio for auto-alignment, and it's around 59,6 grams 😅 which makes sense a magnet can only pull a certain amount of weight before you have to put in heavier magnets.

The main criticism of the GAN 14 was that it had way too many adjustments and therefore people felt overwhelmed with all of the choices leading to decision fatigue and usually just not messing with them too much. I think it's great that GAN is listening to their customers and making things easier to work with. That being said, of course you brought up the tornado which kept the magnet adjustments but just made it simpler to adjust multiple magnets at one time instead of one by one. Obviously corrections still need to be made considering the competition but it's a step in the right direction and I love hearing companies that take their consumers critique to heart

I know there goal is to make light Cubes but a cool thing would be 4 types of adjustable magnets(here there are the blue magnet rods and the green ones) perhaps there could be another one where one is weak one is mid and one is the strongest, then when ua dd it in the cube then using a tool u can adjust the strength of the rod (weakest mid or strongest) like the 12,13 or 14. They already did a version of this thru the other Cubes using triangle and hexagonal magnetic rods, I think it would be better if they did it with diff Colours and actually made a noticable diffrence. Anyways that's my idea, ik it's never gonna happen but just thought it'd be cool to share.

That's cool that they're making super light puzzles, but I feel the weight of others, like the wrm v10, has just a much better feeling in the hand. I tend to have a more tense turning style, so lighter doesn't give me much of an advantage. Either way, I'm excited for a good upgrade from Gan. Can't wait for my order. Great video

Plus (it’s been a while since I turned one so I don’t quite remember) when I tried the twelve, it kinda felt like a weird half step from the eleven to the thirteen. as someone who’s had the gan 15 for a while now, when i first received the cube, i found its performance to be subpar compared to many other flagships today (probably because i have the older batch where the cube comes with squared center caps + slightly different piece designs), and i was struggling to get times within a second of my global. after playing around with the cube for a while, while the performance issues didn’t really improve with tensioning, it did become more enjoyable of a cube, but i would still prefer something like an rs3m 2020 from a few years back over it 😔 hoping that the modifications gan made have made it a better cube so others would have a better experience with it than i did! doesn’t seem like the problems i encountered with it came up in the video, so that’s a great sign :D
