I genuinely think Oranguru is a slept on support mon in VGC right now (or well was during the last two formats, not sure how the new ones gonna shake out yet). All 3 of it's abilities allow it to do different but useful things, Inner Focus for fake out immunity allowing you to setup trick room more reliable, Telepathy allowing you to spam moves like Boomburst or other similarly strong moves that usually don't see play because they hit your partner pokemon and of course as shown in this video, there's symbiosis which is probably the most niche and gimmicky ability of the 3 but definitely still interesting and fun for sure. All of these ability options also opens up Oranguru to a lot of different viable items, such as Mental Herb for Inner Focus sets. Covert Cloak if you run Telepathy, Life Orb or other damage boosting items in the case of Symbiosis (i'm also curious as to how Symbiosis interacts with Partners that have the Unburden ability). There's all of this and i haven't even gotten to how strong Instruct is. Allowing a mon like Bloodmoon Ursaluna to Blood Moon twice or just Hyper Voice twice in the same turn is extremely powerful and if your Oranguru is faster than your Ursaluna, you can even use Instruct first meaning Ursaluna repeats it's move from last turn first and then uses the move you selected from it's current turn allowing it to actually use two different moves in a single turn. And Ursaluna is but one single pokemon that pairs well with Oranguru i have to imagine there's a lot more, maybe even among some of the new and or returning pokemon from the Indigo Disk DLC. Oranguru also gets access to interesting support moves like Yawn, Quash and Knock Off. I think this mon is under-explored. Now i'm not saying that this pokemon is a secret VGC top tier or anything, but i think if you build a team with it in mind, i wouldn't rule out the possibility of being able to top cut at a regional event even if just as a one off performance.

You can also cheese protect + Gigaton hammer if your Tinkaton is fast enough. If it used protect the turn before and Oranguru uses instruct the next turn under trick room then Tinkaton will use protect first and then whatever move you selected it to use that turn. Oranguru has to be slower for it to work though.

Hi Weedle, I want to share with you a strategy that I created and put into practice that I have had a lot of fun with and am quite proud of, I would love to see you use it and improve it since it revolves around a movement that I have seen no use and I think it has a lot of potential The team is a dragon monoteam that revolves around the cheer dragon move, which has the property of increasing the crit rating of a dragon partner by two levels in double battles. To take advantage of this I decided to use a fast Pokémon with good defensive stats and a good defensive tera, the Pokémon I use is latias with choice scarf, trick and other support moves like chilling water and mist ball The idea is to use cheer dragon as quickly as possible and attack with a powerful crit that makes the opponent disappear, I have been experimenting with really cool synergies like choice scarf kingdra with the sniper ability and the dragon meteor move, which thanks to the crit ignores the debuff of statistics also raging bolt with the scope lenses item has a powerful priority move that is almost guaranteed to be critical to finishing off any opponent I personally like to have noivern as a backup to use cheer dragon in case latias gets weakened Also other great companions like dragapult with a guaranteed double critical thanks to its unique movement dragon darts or gouging fire for offensive pressure. Anyway, those are my choices but I'm sure that you can improve many aspects of the team, I love you, goodbye (also, I'm sorry if it's not completely understood, my native language is Spanish, I see you from Latin America)

Oranguru is my favourite doubles pokemon. Access to Trick Room, Instruct, Encore and other useful utility moves really allows you to play whatever you want with it, plus, Symbiosis is such a great ability... I just don't understand why people just don't use it? It has all these tools, it has amazing bulk and is guarenteed to live a double-up on it, yet... Its just never used...

@@katfulcoded That doesn't work. When a Pokemon is transferred to PLA, it goes into the Strange Ball, but when transferred out it goes back to its original Pokeball. The only way you can see a Strange Ball in Scarlet and Violet is if the Pokemon was caught in PLA in a Hisuian Pokeball and transferred out into a compatible game. And because all legendaries in PLA are Shiny locked, it's impossible to have the Genies both Shiny and in Strange Balls.
