This is a true master piece. Bernard Hepton as George Smiley, Edward de Souza as Bill Haydon, Douglas Blackwell as Peter Guillam and Charles Grout as Percy Alleline. Amazing cast for a true masterpiece.

A masterpiece indeed, I remember being in school and watching the Alec Guinness version I was only about 12 so didn't understand it that well but seen it since and understood it's and LeCarres' brilliance. Thank you for the cast details, do u no the year?

@@SimonMcGrath-o8jk original broadcast in 1988 by Rene Basilico in seven weekly half-hour episodes, produced by John Fawcett-Wilson. Notably, Bernard Hepton portrays George Smiley. Nine years earlier, he had portrayed Toby Esterhase in the television adaptation.

You can buy all the cds of Smiley as a wonderful gift. My husband and I loved the BBC tv series, loved these amazing radio versions too...brilliantly cast. Never tire of them, our son enjoys too...whether Bernard Hepton or Alec Guinness (spell?) Also loved the latest film...a definite fan xx

I like how in the 70s BBC miniseries the opening scene is the Circus having secret meeting, and when the 'mole' walks into the room, he doesn't close the door behind him. Clever and subtle 😀

This was great, but why has no one got the Bernard Hepton ‘Smiley’s People’ follow up? I used to have it on cassette and transferred it to digital, then my Toshiba backup drive died. Gloom! Lost forever apparently!
