Tip to make those precise cuts easier: glue first, cut after. Also, use an X-Acto knife, mate! it makes everything so much easier, especially if you have a full set of blades.

i wish microsoft added a feature where you can change the colour of the middle thing on the xbox and you could have it be even changing colours so its easier to have a different colour instead of white and wont risk any damage to anything

Me too, has to change out the joystick inside the nintendo switch joycon. Smallest fiddliest thing I've ever done. When you have sausages for fingers its so easy to squish everything

You could also uses some clear tape and a green sharpie and just stick it on the LED on the circuit board. So it’s not permanent like the glue and easy swappable to other colors. :D

No dumb questions. 😁 It wont cause anything to overheat, just make sure you dont damage anything and reassemble it correctly and you will be fine

Fair warning as someone who modded their controller like this: Some kits will have stickers that will not give you the shade of color intended, which is usually caused by the button’s opacity or the sticker. Some green stickers will make the button look aquamarine once everything is done, and other colors could look the same. You never know, so be careful before making a mistake that’ll be a bitch to fix.

Yeah they should make a special controller that has like different colored leds in it and also the whole controller could be easily customizable with you being able to take off the sides of the controller easily and being able to replace them with different colored sides and just being able to make a custom controller

Well, an alternative, is to color in the x with like, a felt tip marker or something

I did something similar. I used alcohol ink directly onto the LED, let it dry completely before applying a second drop, let it dry and you can apply more if you wish. The big thing is using a cotton swab to clean the area of any spills or mess. I used Watermelon red ink, it's been few months and it's still a deep red color.

Just did this to my controller using homemade alcohol ink (isopropyl alcohol + sharpie) and it looks sweet! Thanks for the suggestion. I imagine changing the colour is as easy as wiping old ink off with clean IPA and repeat process with different colour if I get bored of the green I went for.

Just for everyone else finding this out, here's a word of warning This video is pretty good at not telling you that you'll have to tear open your controller and void your warranty. It is not as easy as shown on the screen here

Oh snap I didn't realize there was a light brightness setting for the LED Lol I got the color because the LED is always so bright when I'm on my Xbox at night (I also have sun damaged eyes)

One way you can do it if you cant find the right kind if plastic is by getting a sharpie and clear tape then do 2 to 3 layers of tape colored. Not always the best turn out but something I've done in the past

Have a two old Xbox one controllers. Planning to take they apart and fix one as the one is worn down after two years and the other just has a broken bumper button. Planning on making a custom controller with decals from my 3 favourite games. This video is great and if I do change the light colour this will be a great help.

When I saw this video I thought it was very cool but just a week ago I follow another dudes tutorial and how to clean your Xbox One and me and my dad tried to fix the USB port and I think you know it is going my dad tried to put the flat bit of the Xbox One back on and he snapped a button off so we had to get it repaired and now I can't play the Xbox for two weeks when I saw this video I was thought it was very cool but when I saw him take the motherboard apart as like nope I am doing this because I probably not have a controller to play with next but yeah I love your videos keep going and yeah

I recommend anyone who wants to do stuff like this... Atleast take it apart first. If youre still not comfortable when you get to the point of removing the green board then dont. But opening up a controller isnt as bad as we think it is.

I won't bash you for not knowing the names of the PCB but what I will say is that from the comments a lot of people here don't seem to have a good understanding of how it works. I routinely take my consoles and controllers apart for cleaning and I would recommend only doing so If you are 100% comfortable with the fact you might brake something and of course it voids any warranty you may still have.

I love how Xbox charges like 300 bucks for like one replacement when you can literally just do it by following his steps or you could just easily pop the joysticks that you want right back in there right or might cause the two controllers right but if you have the right screwdriver it’s easy like you can probably just replace the panel maybe even the buttons or self OK or maybe the like and he’s even switching the white so that’s even better just just don’t charge you like $500 for like one replacement or like two
