You definitely made out like a bandit for sure! From what I have seen with the 261 you could have a lot of fun with it. Been trying to get one myself, I still can't believe a guy ran a 36 inch bar

Typical Stihl... when they don't want to run. I love Stihl saws. My 036 Pro I finally got running few weeks ago. What a saw. But those two months I tore it down 4 times, chasing air leaks. I finally flattened the case down, had high spots where the cylinder sat. While I was there, did a gasket delete. It starts, runs, idles and pulls a 25" bar. Big saws are fun.

The 261's muffler is the culprit for failure because it causes to much heat. Stilh was trying to create a catalytic converter with the muffler clear it out and they will run amazing

With the husky 562xp would have to get a software update every so often for it to work properly 😁 my friend has one and it works perfectly fine after the update

Tinman I just bought a MS 261 and it has the adjustable carb on it , and has a issue with the clutch drum wobble like your the crank is worn on the spot where the bearing rides so it needs a new crank , but it'll be a little hot rod when I'm done with it 😎

Not sure what “gen” m tronic is on the 261 if it is gen2 u start it in triangle position let it run for 30 seconds it picks a tune then make 5 cuts and it picks the best tune from the 5 cuts and it’s good to go👌 bigger about the 441 the 550 looks and sounds good

I love my 441 its got great power
@richardmiller41043 ай бұрын
Stihl ms261c start it. Idle 30 seconds on full start. ( dont open throttle it) then after 30 seconds hold trigger on full rpm it will run for upto 30 seconds running rough then it will open up and scream (keep throttle on full still) keep it screaming then it will go back to running rough. Turn saw off and restart the saw will be reset.
@jczaher3 ай бұрын
I bet that Stihl 261 kept throwing chains because the clutch bearing is shot. I believe you said gov. auction saws which would be an operator deeming it dangerous and a mechanic saying cheaper to get a new one lol. All speculation just for giggles

Ms441 ( if a m tronic) start it on full start leave on that for 90 seconds turn it off restart and find a log and do 5 consistant cuts then turn it off and restart the saw will be reset.
