I find an alternation of listening between loud to "exhaust the brain-ear" and just-enough below tinnitus volume to mask it works well. Note my T is a high pitched "silvery" hiss. I also discovered that I can increase the volume of my tinnitus by strongly tensing the muscles of my neck or strongly scrunching up my face. Apparently, my T might be caused by muscular tension that negatively impacts my inner ear. Involuntary contraction of muscles near my inner ears caused by stress (clenching) or fatigue is my problem. I think. Maybe yours, too? THANKS, DALE for making these tools. You've quite literally have kept me from going nuts.

Hi and thanks for your great help Dalesnale. I'm a 76 yo man who had "intensive chemo" in 1992, and they didn't tell me I'd have lifetime tinnitus! Mine is moderately high-pitch ringing that never stops. Listening now to 4K tinnitus softener, which does help me mostly. Pitches a little higher, I'm finding, I can't even hear at all bc it matches my inner pitch and can't be perceived. Blasting it louder, I think bother the neighbors, and I can't hear it! The goal I think is to approximate the affected pitch not match it...right? How about "bookending" the affected pitch, below and above? Thank you for your thoughts

Hello Paul, That is quite a journey. Great suggestion. Noise masking is ideally listened to at a lower level, and the mind will still be able to notice the new sound and hopefully disregard and lower the "T" sound.

All your tinnitus focus here seems to be on high pitched tones, although I am still looking around. My nagging tone is somewhere between 20 and 45 hertz I believe. I would love to try out any masking noise for that range. Thank you.
