5E has a stat problem, where the only class that really values Intelligence is Wizard. Yeah, a few 1/3 caster subclasses want Int, but most of them aren't in it for attack spells anyway so low int is still ok. Not having a single party member with a decent knowledge skill is fairly typical in 5E. They need to make it matter more, like when it could offer an extra languages or even skill.

Alright, but hear me out. -Abjuration wizard frontliner -Dextrous gith wizard frontliner -Int/Wis Dual caster necromancy wizard/life cleric -Dextrous Bladesinger Monk -Order of Scribes camp/utility caster optional seventh man: -Blaster caster evo wizard tempest sorcerer Abjuration's defensive capability is nuts, and if you have high dex and dip a level into fighter, you can wear any armor in the game and carry a shield in your offhand. Gith get light and medium armor proficiency and short/longsword as a racial feature, meaning if you spend on dex, you can get a +2 to most medium armor, some magical armors can give you your whole dex bonus, as does most light armor. Upper level dex characters can easily hit ACs in the high tens if they play their cards well, I've had a gith wizard with 20 AC, it happens. Necromancy wizard Life cleric is an awesome rp combo, you get to explore the cyclicality of life and all that, but also mechanically this is an incredible healer that also has all the shenanigans of necromancers. 6th level, improved undead Mummy? nuts. Ghouls and flying ghouls are a good usage of spells, and even minor undead aren't horrible. Life clerics also get channel divinity preserve life, which is just lifesaving, and all the cleric stuff, so up to medium armor, tons of weapons, shields, etc. Improved healing is a must. Bladesinger monk, with heavy dexterity investment. Need I say more? Order of scribes is for grimy little spell collecting whores like I, and as such have incredible variety for camp casting, utility casting, and otherwise being a buff engine. Evo wizards hit frontlines with big AOE spells that leave their allies alone completely, and metamagic is the best thing in this entire game. Heighten the highest level spell you got, and shoot it right in the middle of the front line. Free your allies if they're surrounded by dropping an entire fireball directly on their heads. Learn any evocation scroll for 1/2 the gold. After casting a spell, you get Tempest Magic where you can fly as a bonus action, even if you're in an enemy's range and would normally take an opportunity attack. Make this campaign, cowards.
