You're right, Devyn; I like that it has a 2-burner stove AND the "Blackstone-like" griddle -- super convenient for multi-use without disturbing others or getting all the smoke/smell inside the camper. Very nice, overall, IMO. Y'all Be Safe!

I feel like any units you review that for their class are compact/small, seem to offer the most room for their available layout. The big units seem to waste space or take a huge swing n miss on potential layout options

I just bought a Flagstaff 524EWS which is the same size as this, different layout. I LOVE this size 5th wheel. for only 2 of us its perfect. Coming from a 32' travel trailer this is much easier to tow and almost feels much bigger inside (because of the added height im guessing). The other HUGE positive of the 524EWS, all of the important stuff is accessible even with the slides pulled in. Full access to the bed, full access to the bathroom, full access to the refrigerator and kitchen. Makes for a perfect setup for long distance travel if you're just pulling over for the night in a parkinglot.

Rockwood is one of my favorite RV manufacturers. This is yet another thoughtfully designed smaller model. It just occurred to me that a nice extra seating option for living areas like this would be beanbag chairs. They're a little pricey these days (especially the good ones). They're easy to store for transit. They're comfy. Just make sure you get at least two; and that they're big enough for adults.

Nice to see the manufactures making smaller 5th wheels again. I went looking for one 2 years ago and could not find anything new under about 32 feet. I ended up buying an older 2005 Keystone Sprinter that is only 27 foot. Fits my family perfect and was small enough to still fit in my side yard so I could avoid paying storage fees. Also is pretty easy to maneuver around in the Colorado mountains.

This looks like the perfect layout for a a toy hauler. If it’s only 30’ long, just tac on a 10’ garage with the door being hidden by the slide in that little storage area. There are so many disfunctional toyhauler floorplans out there. This would be great.

Last July I purchased a Rockwood Ultra Light 2891BH and we are very pleased with it. It had a few very minor issues that the dealer resolved easily, but other than that the build quality is very nice. One nice feature that BTBRV did not point out is that the "Turning Point" hitch on these units allows you to use a standard fifth wheel hitch inside a short bed truck. You can look up the video on how it works if interested. I have a long bed truck, so I don't need it now, but it's nice to know it's there if I ever change tow vehicles.
@dragonbutt4 жыл бұрын
Not all hitches are designed to work with it. Turning point pinboxes utilize a wedge that transfer the pivot point to the pinbox. Just to clarify :)

I found while looking at this 5'er and others from Forest River, they all had those taller stairs to the bed/bath. They felt awkward and as a older person were not easy to climb. I found the stairs in the Grand Design was ok. For a single person that want a light weight small 5th wheel this is a great option. I would also rather have the storage outside than the kitchen.
@BigBadJohnDiesel3 жыл бұрын
Forest River had better make a few changes with this unit! Cougar makes a similar unit equipped with a hitch that is rated for towing! They should have included a grill instead of a two burner stove on the outside kitchen. Great video!

I enjoy all of your videos, as you cover many details. In this case and perhaps in other RV reviews I wish you would take a few extra seconds to open up some/all of the cabinets. In this case the area behind the TV is incredible and useful information. For cabinets it is nice to see if they include a shelf and how many. For drawers - full extension, soft close, drawer height, etc.

Looks to me like the "Skillet" referred to in the outside walk-around EQUALS "Griddle" = flattop vs gas burner (?) IMO. Would LOVE to see the Pantry/Hutch area split: Full size Pantry, w/ a small "nook" for the coffee station, IMO, e.g., the double-doors (lower cabinet) and UP as Pantry, while the LOWER cabinet (and up) as "coffee station" and storage. Overall, I LOVE this floorplan, with those mods. Y'all Be Safe!

could you tow something like this with a smaller truck like a Toyota Tacoma?
@brewers-country89033 жыл бұрын
In the market for a 5th wheel under 30' but not 1/2 ton truck towable. Seems like most 5th wheels that size are geared toward 1/2 ton trucks being able to pull and thus lack additional features like more slides, better/stronger construction. Is there a 5th wheel that is under 30' but made with more options like the bigger units made to be towed with 3/4 or 1 ton trucks? I have a 3/4 Cummins now and don't plan on getting anything smaller..........thanks!!
