I used to do the same thing on the backs of my older babies .It was just something I did when I held them , just a gentle massage and a back rub. I knew it relaxed them and it actually helped one of my boys with severe colic . It was later recommended to me by a chiropractor I was seeing after a car accident . My youngest was real fussy in his carrier . I had been doing it and was glad to hear it was something good for them . Seeing this brings back those memories. I also did it for the grandbaby we are raising when she was an infant and she still likes her back rubs .

i went to baby massage group (ran by a professional) where we learned to work on our babies for a year for each of my kids when they were 6weeks onwards. its was wonderful. helped with sleep and digestion for both. that was 15 and 17 years ago. i highly recommend it

Yes, yes, yes! I took my now 2 mo to see a chiropractor b/c she was crying to what i thought was colic. She was inconsolable, she was 2 wks old at the time. Her 1st appt she was a calmer, happier baby! And by her 2nd or 3rd appt she could latch to my breast easier, now we're exclusively breastfeeding when it was 75% to 95% formula. She had blistered and ingested some skin and blood which was why we'd stopped. I told my baby's chiropractor how i wished every Dr would recommend this to every newborn. Also, had i known about this w my 1st baby she would not have had daily colic, fevers, ear infections, etc. She was having ear infection accompanied w fever every other month. The culprit was them getting some sprain, if you will, on their neck...somehow that connects to brain, not allowing baby to process swallowing and breathing normally...something along those line. I was skeptic but it's something of miracles to both baby and parents. *Sorry for lack of knowledge on this.
